Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drove from George all the way to Montagu and were amazed at the variety if scenery. A much better journey than on the N2 and so quiet! There was even time to see tge scenery.

Amazing views. Drink it in. We loved it, long straight roads almost like a Californian highway, very little traffic. Peaks everywhere and stunning for photos!

The R62 is a great road to drive. Round every corner is another quirky sign advertising somewhere to eat or drink. Worth stopping to take photos! And the scenery is good too.

The Little or Klein Karoo provides a wonderful contrast to the coast, with wonderful mountain backdrops, farmland and vineyards.

For the uninitiated the best route across the Cape is perhaps not so much the garden route as the Klein Karoo. We were fortunate in that we went to PE via the Garden Route then following local advice bordering on insistence - lol - we returned to Cape Town via the Klein Karoo and what a beautiful trip it was augmenting fantastically well as it did the garden route journey - but without as much traffic. We saw a lioness croaa the road during the day about 200m ahead of us - awe inspiring.

We came back via Route 62 on our trip along the Garden Route, minimal traffic, great roads and scenery, great little places to stop and have a drink and a meal. Slower pace than the N2 but really enjoyable miles fly by.

We travelled along a section of the R62 and granted, it was in the middle of the week before the holiday rush started, but what a pleasant drive it was! Although there were road works, the road between Ashton and Montagu actually closed for 2 hours for traffic in either direction while blasting occurs (Tuesday and Thursday, 11.00 to 13.00), it is no problem if you take this into account and plan accordingly. Super pit stops along the way and beautiful scenery!

This road is just so beautiful. The scenery is stunning, the people you meet on the way are so friendly .. it's remote but safe and still not touristy like the garden route.
Make sure you take lots of water in the car as there aren't many places to stop and have a drink.

The R60/R62 roads from Robertson through to Oudtshoorn are the gateways to a motorcyclists nirvana. Hi speed national roads, scenic semi desert landscapes and access to 7 utterly fantastic mountain passes.
I have done them all many times and if I was asked I would tell a visiting biker to take a week and go for a blast either from George to Cape town or the other way
