Always worth visiting the markets as the are lively. The goods on sale are not great and the stalls all seem to carry similar products. I wonder who buys cheap wrists watches any more but there are plenty around. You can find the odd bargain if you look hard enough. When you have had enough bartering you can get a... More

Hardly a must do, but given the market covers the entire strip of restaurants in Batu its hard to avoid. To be honesty, there are only about 7 or 8 types of stall, that continually repeat as you walk down the road. (electronic/bag/watch/t-shirt/ad-hoc rubbish etc). Once you have seen one stall selling bags, the next one a 100 yards down... More

I was really looking forward to visiting the much- lauded night market. The reality is so disappointing. Cheap watches, bags, purses, poor quality clothing and the usual collection of garish t- shirts. In fact a repeat of the many such markets wherever tourists are to be found. Even the stall holders didn't show much enthusiasm for their goods. I didn't try... More

All the waterfront is public space in spite of the beach hotels and water scooters roam close to shore, where nobody really swims as the water is muddy and dirty. Oriental markets all over Asia used to be my favourite spots to roam around and find interesting and unique things to bring home. That was then and now as the... More

The markets have lots of clothing and the usual Nic naks . The food hall is very tasty with a wide variety of foods . Stall owners are not in you face and pushy . It's about 3/4 km long

Mainly because it's extensive and vibrant, but really it's mainly t-shorts and wallets and quite repetitive. It's still a fun place to go, but not the best actual market.

We have to walk through the market on our way to Long Beach for dinner. It starts near the Holiday Inn and ends near The Golden Sands a few hundred metres away!! The initial costs are way over the top, and very few prices are displayed, so really haggle, stop for a few seconds and they will pounce!! We have... More

We couldn't avoid this market as our hotel is in the middle of it. Seems they set up between 6-7:30pm, but we've seen no sales take place! No surprise there, cheap copies and no negotiation on price doesn't make for a very positive experience.

BF comes alive with its street market at night, lots of stall all selling the same things, lots of faux named goods to bata for, all good fun. Lots of eating houses, Long Beach food hall is always packed, a noodle dish starts at 5RM which is about £1. The Pancake Queen is a must for 10RM.
