I'm an animal and creature lover so I don't want to write a big negative review of this place. All I will say is that it's very small, the staff were rude to us and I would not visit again. Their idea of rescue didn't seem too friendly for all those poor turtles crammed into a tiny cage. Hummmm..... I... More

Hopefully we are moving away from zoos in the future unless they are to be designed with the animals happiness in mind. The snakes, turtle and caymans were interesting, but knowing that they live the way they do (unstimulated, lonely and dying) for our entertainment is not a good thing. We would be fine watching video of these animals rather... More

The serpentarium s not huge but has everything that nature lovers and nature lovers to be can expect. We have found the tour very interesting and the information on animals rescue were eye opening for the children. We got to touch the boa. Waiting for the upcoming extension for frogs

I read before arriving in El Valle that the surrounding countryside is home to some of the world's deadliest snakes. So I wanted to safely see these snakes before I went out hiking. I did see them, and I was glad that I did it safely at the Serpantarium. I realized after seeing them that I did not have the... More

Our group of 5 really enjoyed this trip. The guide we had was amazingly fun and informative. It was only a small place but totally worth the $4 admission.

The serpentarium itself is a simple affair, a single small building with less than a dozen glass enclosures displaying some of the local venomous and non-venomous snakes. It is manned by Mario, the owner, and some volunteers. Unfortunately, when I visited on a Sunday, it was a constant stream of Panamanian visitors and Mario was giving his presentations only in... We didn't visit the Serpentario proper, but the owner, Mario Urriola, runs birdwatching tours, and night tours, through the Serpentario. We did both. Mario was extremely knowledgeable about all El Valle animals. On our morning bird walk, we saw over forty species of birds. Mario knew exactly where to go, and he was able to identify every bird we saw.... More

This is an amazing place that takes in rescue animals - from many types of snakes to turtles to caiman's. The volunteer guide is very very knowledgable and shared many insights and info that we didn't know. I love that this is a rescue place - and that the owner has built this all from the ground up. We did... More

We enjoyed our visit here. The guide was knowledgeable and allowed us all to hold the rainbow boa. Entertaining and educational.

We spent an hour or so looking at snakes, crocodiles and turtles, but mostly snakes. Our three year old enjoyed them all! Our guide was not fluent in English but by the time we were halfway through a man came to finish our tour and he was fluent. But by the time he arrived, our guide had removed the snake... More
