The history of Rodos In a building... of course the signs and explanations are totally absent the average visitor can't figure out a thing concerning history. STRONGLY RECOMMEND to read some history BEFORE visiting. The building was renovated in its present form by the Italians as it was going to become mussolini's summer house! !! Stunning info given by museum... More

We toured the magnificent Palace of the Grand Master. Originally a Byzantine fortress (7th century AD), then later home to the Order of Knights (14th century AD). Palace damaged with Church of St John's explosion 1856. Palace rebuilt by Mussolini during Italians occupation in late 1930's. Later, overtaken by Germans. Palace is filled with floor mosaics. Special exhibit, The Lord... More

Main attraction in the Old Town the castle was a Byzantine citadel and converted by the Knights of St John into an administrative center. It is one of the few Gothic style buildings in Greece.A must see especially for history lovers.

This is a pleasant enough place to see and isn't expensive to get in to (I think it cost €3) It is slightly underwhelming though.

The place, as the entire Rhodes city, has a nice historical value. While it's not the most interesting place to visit, it's a must-see while on the island.

Of historical significance! Amazing artefacts-like touring a museum. Incredible tiling from Roman era. Very awe inspiring. One of the better 'palace' tours in Europe!

A perfectly preserved medical castle for both young and old to enjoy history. Well worth doing the tour and not just looking at castle from the outside.

everyone who visits the island should go in old town and see this monument. It's very well restored and travels you to another dimension of time, a few centuries ago. the most beautiful place in old town.

The Palace is great, the downside is that it is very poorly noted with explanation of the different rooms. I would have like to have had information in each room as to each of the displays . On my way out, I asked about the mosaic floors only to find out that they had all been brought from Kos. Staff... More
