Best advice from our hotel at Tremezzina was to take a short watertaxi (€7 pp return with other tourists) from the Lido di Lenno about 7 min walk further south from the Lenno ferry terminal, instead of walking >1km about 45 min including uphill on...More

Unbelievably lovely--no wonder it has appeared in a Star Wars and Bond film. Take the actual house tour--owned and renovated by a man with true lust for life--fascinating collections and interiors. Went on a Sunday, when the little village had an open-air crafts market, ate...More

As you trek the long walk (some of it uphill) to get to the Villa, you may find yourself thinking, "I hope this is worth it!" Well, it is! Stunning architecture, beautiful gardens, unparalleled views of the mid-lake - it is simply not to be...More

I'll keep this short: Villa Balbianello is one of the most beautiful villas in Europe. Arriving by water taxi is a great experience and the grounds are lovely. The Villa itself is just fantastic and well worth the entrance fee. Don't miss it!

We almost missed this place because of confusing ferry-boats, but I'm so glad we made it there on our last day! Such a beautiful place and views! Took the ferry to Lenno. We walked to the Villa, and it took about 15 minutes for us,...More

Surreal location on Lake Como. A must visit with the tour. We did it as part of the tour on Taxi boat Varenna and this is my recommendation on how to see it. Owned by an explorer , it contains momentos of his many expeditions....More

Previous reviewers who enjoyed these gardens have written in depth of the history and location, expensive perhaps, but a quality experience. The walk to the gardens from Lenno is comfortable, gradual uphill sections, wide comfortable pavement underfoot. Take your time enjoy the wooded walk which...More
