Located right in the middle of town it is a tribute to the work of Domenech the famous architect who was from Canet and initiated the architecture as art movement.

This is a small but perfectly formed museum to the famous Catalan modernist architect Lluis Domenech I Montaner. He designed many of the famous modernist buildings in Barcelona. The museum covers his life and work. It has several audio visual presentations in 4 languages. You need to search a little for the buttons. Visited the Casa Museu Lluis Domenech I Montaner as a tour stop exploring Catalonian history and Art. The house and workshop of the architect is a stunning pieces of family home in the local Art Nouveau/Modernisme Style and gives a brilliant insight into the various materials from mosaic, glass, plaster, wood to ironworks used as an enhancement of buildings and an expression of an emerging native style. I was intrigued by Canet's many examples of Modernisme architecture and so it was lovely to be able to see inside one of the best examples. There was some work going on, and not everything was working perfectly. Nevertheless it's a lovely house to explore and there's a fair amount to see. There are some audio points in English which was helpful, and I found I could manage the display posts alternating between Catalan, Spanish and French as needed. He was certainly an interesting man and his house reflects that. Check the website carefully for the slightly restricted opening hours. At €3, the entry is good value. …
