The Grand Pavilion Matlock Bath is 'open ambitious and a little bit scruffy'. You are welcome to come and visit our building on open days and heritage talks and for all our publicised events. In August 2013 the building was bought from the council by the community and is run by a local charity. The aim is to restore this amazing building and theatre. While we wait for the lottery fairy to do her thing,we are running events such as live music performances, art and heritage exhibitions, film shows and private hirings. The Pavilion is also the home of The Peak District Lead Mining Museum which is very successful, very popular and not at all scruffy !

Went to Matlock Bath on Sunday - never again . There were Parking Wardens all over the place enforcing strict one hour parking. Felt very sorry for families that had come for a day out and were loading crying kids back into cars. We wondered why it was so easy to park up our motorcycle well we soon found out.... More

Perhaps I missed something but the building looks in need of restoration but understood this has been done. Visited the museum next door which was fully decorated. Almost thought I was in the wrong place!

The Restoration Cafe opened this week downstairs in the Pavilion next to the mining museum (well worth a visit there!). I am not sure about the choice of decor, I think the idea was to make people aware that profits from it will go towards restoring the rest of the building which desperately needs it. I would have gone for... More

Walked up and was going to go in the museum as last time I visited there was a free exhibition part. This was not the case today, I decided against paying the entrance fee this time so I cannot comment on the museum. The outside of the pavillion is in need of some tlc. The upper windows are boarded up... More

Hello Catherine I'm glad you found us but sad we didn't have the opportunity to show you round or talk to you about our community restoration project. The council no longer owns the building, it was bought outright by The Grand Pavilion charity in 2013 and we now run it as a music venue and community space and earn money... More

A group of friends and I went to see Rick Astley here. I was surprised that it appeared to be a bit of a school hall but it actually worked really well. It all seemed to be well organised and the bar area although it had no seating was roomy enough. A surprise find for me! I'll be back if... More

We have not had Rick Astley at this venue - maybe we should! - so perhaps this review is meant for another venue? More

Best way to describe this place is shabby sheik - seems to have undergone some restoration but defiantly in need of more. Decent cup of coffee though

'Please visit'. This wouldn't be our usual place to stop for coffee , but we are glad we did. This beautiful building is defiantly 'shabby' and in need of some TLC, which is why I ask you to please visit. The cafe at the top of the building, isn't much to write home about, the coffee was good , the... More

Great place to visit and gets quite busy when the weather is nice. Can sometimes be a pain to park. Nice walks and plenty of places to get fish and chips from.
