Walking with friends from Broadstairs to Margate, we stopped at Joss Bay. Our friend reminisced about childhood family holidays there in years gone by. We were not impressed that the public lavatories were closed. We live in Eastbourne and all our facilities are open, so this was a great disappointment to us, hence the one star.

An excellent, sandy beach that is quiet in Winter and great for dogs. All facilities were closed, but we had a great walk and the dogs loves the sea and sand.

Stopped for a coffee at the Kiosk, staff were delightful, friendly, professional. Very reasonably priced, and great views across the beach out to sea. A lovely cove.
There are toilets on site too.

The beach is really nice, the only downfall were the surfers. We were constantly told to move away from them spoiling the kids fun. They should have their designated area to learn surfing. Overall it's a good sandy beach to visit. The beach has its own parking so don't park anywhere else. It's £5 something for the whole day!

Lovely Sandy beach. Fossils can be found in the chalk cliffs. Didn’t go onto the beach as no dogs allowed.

What a find this was!
Such a great beach for families, clean & unspoilt with a small cafe, lifeguards on duty & a small hire shop for deckchairs etc
We spent a few days on this beach with children from 4-13yrs, they loved it!
Loved the area, people were friendly & easy to park as there are several car parks nearby.
We will certainly return, just as good if not better than the likes of Devon/Somerset/Cornwall without all the crowds, extortionate prices of accommodation & travelling distance.

Excellent family friendly beach! Plenty of parking in a field directly opposite at a cost of £5 for the day. Only issue was the insanely long queues for food, drinks and ice-creams!

Love the look of Joss Bay, going to Margatethis weekend but cannot pay the extortionate parking charges, is there anywhere legal I can park within a reasonable distance that won’t upset the locals?
Thanks for reading,
Regards,
Tony.

Hi!
Can anyone tell me is there is adequate disabled parking?

Limited parking here, a farmer has opened a field charge £5.00 a day, which is reasonable, but there is a very steep slope to the beach, think this is not or you.
Viking bay does have a lift to the beach, so would be better for you, parking can be a problem, unless you get there early.

Does the tide come right in so you can't sit on the beach at high tide ?

At low tide you can walk to other bays along the beach. But at high tide there is still plenty of sand to sit on.

Is swimming allowed here during evening time, day 8-9pm?

It would be allowed but not a safe thing to do. There would be no lifeguard on duty. If it was getting dark, you might get disorientated and venture too far out to sea which could be very dangerous. Only do this if there are people around who would be able to help you.

Hi,
Are bbq's permitted at any time?
Thanks

Hello,
Yes bbq's are allowed, they are permitted on the right side of the beach as you walk down the slope with good signage. They do request that you take the coals home with you and not bury them in the sand so disposable bbq's seems the most convenient.
Have a lovely day out
