About
The St Peter's Village Tour offers four free award winning guided walks around the historic village and churchyard of St Peter's, Broadstairs in Kent. The Tours are arranged by a team of 110 volunteers.During the walking tour with your guide, you will meet many costumed characters from past centuries. You will see the flint built church and find out a little more about its long history. You will hear of conditions in the workhouse, the Newbolts breakfast concerts for hundreds of fashionable people, the tower used in the Napoleonic wars, famous (and infamous) local residents and our ancient seat of local government for the area. The tour is conducted in groups of around ten and covers less than a mile of flat walking, but does involve standing for a number of 5 minute presentations. It includes a break for tea or coffee (although no break on evening tours, or wet weather tours). You are advised to allow two and a half hours for your tour. In very wet weather we provide an Inclement weather Routine. Access for visitors with disabilities. Children are very welcome on our tour. We would however, suggest a minimum age of 10 years to fully appreciate the experience. At the end of the tour you are invited to contribute towards our costs which average £4 per adult. Here at the St Peter's Village Tour we appreciate any comments you may have with regard to any of our tours and our website. We are Supported by the Broadstairs and St. Peter's Town Council and we are member of the Broadstairs Tourism and Leisure Association.

Absolutely brilliant, they put so much effort into this tour and only ask a contribution. Loved the way they walk you round the church and village and the characters were in costume. All of them did a fantastic job, the headmistress scared us! and the folk in the stocks were funny, along with the great acting at the work house. Interesting fact about Poor Hole lane, being the burial site of plague victims during the Black Death and now is being developed as a housing estate!
Elaine our guide was very good and clearly enjoys meeting people.
Wish i had taken some photographs now.

Fascinating and fun afternoon
What a surprising and enjoyable afternoon we had at the St Peter's Village Tour, which takes place every Thursday afternoon throughout the summer.
Do go, if you haven't been before! It's great fun, hugely informative and jam packed with unexpected facts and characters about Broadstairs' neighbouring village. St Peter's started life over 1000 years ago and was the main settlement in the area until the 19th Century.
The tour is run by an independent group of 120 volunteers. You'll meet some of them in costume as you explore the stories of this fascinating place and learn about the people and events which have shaped it over the years.
There's even a nicely produced little booklet you can purchase for just £2.50, on top of the tour donation of £5 (refreshments at the halfway point are £2 extra)
All in all a great afternoon out

I was pleasantly surprised about how good this tour was. As well as being informative, the characters dotted around the route were brilliant in bringing the history to life. I particularly liked the first couple in the church and the school mistress.
At the beginning of the tour I told our tour guide that we were on the tour as it was my sisters birthday. So a lovely touch half way through the tour, was that she had a surprise happy birthday sang to her. It really made my sisters day.
Considering that this is run by volunteers it is so well organised and is a wonderful asset to the village. It wasn't rushed at all and it was charming throughout.
I totally recommend the tour for adults, but I think my 10 year old daughter would have got bored around half way round, as it is a good 2.5 - 3 hours long. Fabulous none the less, and I will be telling all my friends to pop along.
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. 💛

The tour was amazing. A unique experience, educational but also highly entertaining and so original. The costumes and acting were spot on and it really brought St Peters to life. There isn't a huge amount of walking and some opportunities to sit down. It was a full 2.5 hours and well worth more than the suggested £5 donation.

Great tour, entertaining, informative and relaxed. Alan was a wonderful guide with a dry sense of humour. Well planned out, lots of short 5 minute performances, and always somewhere to sit if you need to rest. Highlights were the soldier, the stocks, the schoolmistress, and the scene at the alms house. Allow 3 hours as it can take a while to be split into groups. Amazing that 120 community members are involved in this, great pride in the village and its history.

Can someone please explain the problem report (Review violates guidelines, Review is suspicious. Review posted to wrong location.) to me? I cannot understand how I have violated any guidelines. I don't know what is suspicious about my review. And how have I posted to the wrong location? I sincerely apologize if I have unintentionally offended anyone. I had a wonderful time and only wanted to tell others about the St. Peter's Village Tour.
