Those who expect to find a museum inside the castle will be disappointed. But it is still worth visiting, seeing inside, small corridors, the chapel, imagining how people lived in it many centuries ago. Lots of stairs to climb. The adult ticket costs £6.20

Free to get in the grounds and £6 to go inside the main castle building. Lovely views of the surrounding area and worth a walk around the perimeter.

When you are lucky enough to visit Rochester on a sunny day you will have exceptionally spectacular views from the top of the castle that easily make up for the moderate entrance fee.

I See people moaning about the steps. Come on people it's a castle and a beautiful one at that. Not been since a school trip in the 90s and it's just how I remember it. An absolute delight. Priced no doubt to pay for the upkeep. Stunning Cathedral next door. Few local pubs for a bite and drink after.

Access to the top only for the fit and able.. but the view from the top over Strood, Rochester and the Medway well worth it.

Very historical castle, amazing, not just a ruin but somewhere to be admired with outstanding views over the Thames.

I love Rochester castle. It's set just off of the high street and surrounded by grounds where you can enjoy a picnic with the family or wander around taking in its charm. I have fond childhood memories of visiting here with my grandparents and would recommend it for a day out with children. The town also has lots to offer... More

Quite frankly the worst Christmas market! So poorly organised, barely anything worth buying! In writing it sounds awesome, but it really isn't! Unique gifts, and stocking fillers?! Nope! Lots of overpriced decorations and food! Very busy, lots of walking uphill. Really not a place for those with a disability. Wouldn't return. Would much prefer elsewhere.

there's more of this castle than some others have, many walkways around, up and down through the castle. you can see what it looked like all those years ago. you need to be good on your feet to walk about here, as the castle is over 100ft high. entry is £6.40 for adults or £4 children. we took in the... Very disappointing. The Christmas Market was basically just a fun-fair. The Carousel charged for parent AND baby (in contrast to the market at Tate Modern which only charged for the adult) and the stalls looked mostly like weekend street-market junk. Won't be going back. Disappointing and a rip-off.
