Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a popular visiting point with great views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Very moving memorial garden next to the monument too. A lovely 2 mile walk through the woods up to the monument from Spean Bridge.

My father trained here during WW 2 which, thankfully he survived although now passed on, and during my military career I served in the Falklands conflict in 1982.

The views and tranquility of this setting are just so appropriate for the respect the service and sacrifices of these brave service men deserve and that this this memorial commemorates.

I was not expecting to be so emotional being a veteran myself - but a few tears came to my eyes I have to admit.

Do not pass by without stopping.

Travelling from Dumfries to Plockton we were delighted to be blessed with so many spectacular views. We took advantage of passing on the A82 in low season so many of the sights were less busy. Worth a stop to remember the sacrifice of those during WW2 as well as an opportunity to view the wonderful panoramic vista

This is a fantastic memorial and is in a great location. A lovely tribute. There are benches you can sit on and a good view on a nice day. There is a free car park but it was busy when we went in the afternoon. If you take money you can put it in the box which goes towards the upkeep of the monument. I did pass by another morning which looked much quieter so maybe morning or evening would be the best time to visit.

I was very emotional visiting here as my grandfather was one of the commandos involved in training the 1st army rangers for the Normandy landings, having finally stood here and looked up at the mountains where he would run up taking his 'trainees' with him it did give me a smile due to the potholes on the roadside it is almost impossible to park to get out safely especially in the rain. It still doesn't detract from the power of the sculpture. And the emotions attached to it.

This monument is really well done. It's worth reading the associated signage to get some appreciation of the reason for this monument to incomprehensible bravery being where it is. The views to Ben Nevis were stunning if it's a clear day. Some reflective time in the memorial garden is both sobering, yet rewarding.

One of our stops on our holiday in the Highlands of Scotland was the Royal Marine Commando Monument at Spear Bridge, Lochaber, Scotland. This was a little bit special for myself as my Grandfather was a Royal Marine during WW2 and I had done some training with the RA Royal marines while serving. If you visit make sure you check the weather and wear the appropriate clothing.

I saw the Commando Monument at Spaen Bridge while going to/from my lodgings and the Great Glen Way on my hike last year.
I had previously visited this impressive memorial monument on a tour with my Wife sometime before my hike. It is, and remains, an impressive memorial and monument to the Commandos who trained in the area during the Second World War.
I recommend a short visit to the monument whenever you might be in the area.

Lots of war history here, but also recent as well as historic. Beautiful monument with memorial area nearby. Worth standing and reading every single one. I wonder how many people bother to do that (preferring to take "Selfish selfies"?). So worth a visit, please spend time reading the information x
