Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Left a luncheon at Restaurant and wandered along Bridge road were a bit taken back by the amount of vacant premises we saw if this is being caused by restrictive parking being enforced, some measure should be introduced to try and reinject some new life into this once iconic shopping strip

My daughter and I travelled to Melbourne to look for a formal dress that we didn't want to see mass produced in a large department store or chain store. First stop was Chapel Street Melbourne. Unfortunately whilst there were lots of designer stores & chain stores there were very few boutiques that sold formal dresses that would appeal to a teenager or 20 something. There were also a lot of empty boutiques. Caught the train to Bridge Road, Richmond. There were more formal shops on Bridge Road but again unfortunately a lot of empty boutiques. Not as many designer & chain stores so not as appealing for a general shopping day. However, we had success with the formal dress search with a real find in Melbourne designer store Bariano's. Lots of beautiful formal & cocktail dresses - we were spoilt for choice. Prices were similar to what you would pay for formal dresses in a department store but designs were many & different. Luckily for us Monday's are 15% off day - an added bonus to finding that special dress.

Lots of great shops, some heavily discounted - others not. But on the day it was a great event for ladies...we were seven and had a great time.

Really disappointed in Bridge Road. It’s been a number of years since I was here and to be honest I expected more - half the shops were either empty or closed. It used to be known for shopping but not anymore. There were a lot of cocktail/wedding/suit shops which is great if that’s what your after and a few cafes. Some small independent shops as well. Wouldn’t be in a hurry to come back.

Bridge Road has many attractions, which range from restaurants to jumble shops. We love the Vietnamese restaurants, where we have pho every time we visit. "Pho" is Vietnamese rice noodles, made with tasty broth. My friend's partner is a bargain hunter, she can't resist finding treasures in the second-hand shops. Bridge Road has many coffee shops, where you can get a strong cup of coffee and a cake to eat with your drink. The tram runs the entire length of Bridge Road, all day, every day. Parking is not great, but the tram works on a de facto hop on-hop off basis.

Probably the main shopping strip of Richmond, we enjoyed walking up and down it many times over our visit, browsing and shopping, fave places were Kruah 2 Thai restaurant, is worth a visit and richmond traders was our shopping centre of choice, and the red cross op shop, is good value.

This used to be a thriving shopping strip in Melbourne and now it's completely hopeless. Barely any shops left. I went there last week and now the Country Road Outlet is gone, the whole place is completely deserted. This place is now up there with the deserted Chapel Street. If you want a decent shopping experience go either into the CBD, visit Chadstone shopping centre (personally I find Chadstone way too big and overwhelming).

Bridge Road is no longer the bargain shopping hub it used to be. About 80% of the shop fronts are empty. For bargain shopping I'd recommend Habour Town, Spencer St Outlets or DFO!

Hello, Thank you for taking time adding your review. The area has been evolving for sometime now and now has a huge range of great cafes and restaurants. The rise of Bridge Road food is a huge growth area. We have many new buildings being developed on the hill area and soon as the work is completed or commences the empty premises will be leased again. We still have some great labels such as Bonds, Bendon, Alannah Hill, Country Road, Gorman, David Lawrence, Rivette and Blair, Witchery, Menzclub, Aquila, Decuba, Bardot, Sportsgirl and Review to name a few. The area has a great selection of evening and bridal shops. Check out the food images on our listing for some mouth watering reasons to visit again, the local business owners would love to make you feel welcome and serve you some delicious food with the area offering cuisine from around the globe. Be sure to mark in your calendar 6th March 2016 for A Global Gathering - Bridge Road's Melbourne's Food and Wine Festival extravaganza event showcasing all thats on offer. The Bridge Road Team

The majority of the stores have closed up and moved on elsewhere.

I think DFO now is a better alternative to bridge road.

It’s a shame - this used to be my favourite holiday spot for shopping and now my choice is only DFO. I have a DFO in Sydney.

Where did all the retailers go?
