The gate was part of the town's fortification and it was discovered a few years ago, believed to be right above an ancient port. Unfortunately, there is not a lot information about the site, but it's worth visiting even for the photo opportunities.

Do yourself a favour. Take a boat from port of Sozopol and visit the island. The trip is amazing itself but the views from the top near the beacon are priceless. Also the ancient ruins. And if you happen to be there in early June...More
