    Breath taking masterpiece
Visiting Italy is always a great shakeup of harmony and beauty. Such is the Duomo Di Monza, the central cathedral, which is not easily seen from the main routes. Passing the old and spiritual, breathing streets of the central city park it like a bright and amazing discovery, this perfect, cake like masterpiece. Bright, rich, unbelievably beautiful, full of details that can only open themselves after you can start breathing again and will come closer. It is of course a place to visit, and preferably with a small group of people, or in the rush. Details are something to discover and will take time, but it is worth it

    Uncrowded Splendour
Beautiful church full of frescos that have been restored though some damages can still be seen. This did not affect the beauty of the works and the building, impressive on the outside and inside. Loved how uncrowded it was. This is the home of the Iron Crown which is kept secure and not visible in the Chapel of the Queen. What is visible from outside the Chapel is a replica of the crown, the real crown can only be viewed on the guided tour of the Chapel. Well worth paying the extra. There is no charge for the Duomo. Skip the museum tour and do the Chapel tour which is what I did. Please note there was someone hanging at the entrance with a cup asking for money. Saw the same person sneaking into the church later so please keep an eye on your valuables.

    Read before coming
This Cathedral is so full of stories and legends that it´s imperative to read about its construction and about Teodolinda and the Crown of Iron before coming; otherwise, take a guided tour to fully appreciate it. This 14C church was recently renovated and its lattice façade shines in all its splendor. Beside the magnificent facade, pay attention to the very original capitals of the octagonal columns: wild animals, eagles, mermaids, griffins and centaurs. Look for the Tree of Life in the right transept. At the left of the chancel lies the beautiful Teodolinda´s chapel. It can only be visited with a guide. In the ticket booth to the Treasury Museum you can also ask for the next guided tour. Don´t miss it. The frescos all around the chapel show not just Teodolinda´s life, but also a display of History, garment fashion and traditions of the Middle Ages. And you will have a glance to the famous Iron Crown, actually made of gold and jewels, and, according to legend, a nail of Christ. Buy also a ticket for the Treasury. It´s full of surprises.

The main attraction of Monza, which attracted our (and not only our) attention and for which we came here, is undoubtedly the cathedral. To say that he is handsome is to say nothing! It’s simply impossible to take your eyes off its marble façade from the 13th-14th centuries! The interiors are of a later date, but still very beautiful, bright, the stained glass windows are wonderful - beauty, in a word. Strictly speaking, the cathedral is not formally a cathedral, since Monza has always been part of the diocese of Milan. Its official name is the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista - the Church of St. John the Baptist, whose statue can be seen against the background of a Gothic rose in the center of the facade. But all this is unimportant, and most importantly, these are impressions of a magnificent example of Roman-Gothic architecture!

ps. You can see the cathedral for free, but admission to the treasury and the chapel with the crown is paid.

We went to Monza to visit the Iron Crown. This visit deserves so much. Useful to do it with the Guide which is the only way to see the iron crown that is kept inside the cathedral but in an area separated by a gate. It is very frescoed with a rose window on the main door imposing and particular. Outside very beautiful to admire the facade.

Stupendous! There are no other words to define the Cathedral of Monza; Outside it is full of details to discover, inside it literally leaves you speechless with the riot of paintings and decorations. The beauty of the rose window and the harmony of the various styles present are striking.

Located on the square of the same name in the center of the city, it is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Inside it houses the Iron Crown and its bell tower is the tallest building in the city. Worth seeing, majestic inside and out.

A must see cathedral. We traveled from Milan to see this and the Treasury and palazzo reale.

If you only have time for one, I'd choose the Duomo.

Couldn't see every painting because some areas were very dark.

Never saw so many frescoes in one place.

The Treasury museum is right next door. Look for the double brown wood doors on the left side of the Duomo. Museum is through those doors.

A lovely cathedral that wasn't overrun by tourists. Home to the Iron Crown which is only available for viewing up close via private guide, but still able to be seen from afar. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Monza.

Nice medieval Duomo in the centre of Monza, quite stunning, and a nice visit.

One of the few Duomo's that is not symmetric (hint, count the arches), and also has a weird facade (hint-2 walk and see it from the side).

Worth the visit for sure.

Unlike most duomos it is not in fact a cathedral, as Monza has always been part of the Diocese of Milan.
The church is also known as the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista from its dedication to John the Baptist.
The façade is considered Romanesque in its structure and Gothic in its decoration.
I like it more than the Duomo di Milano even if it is smaller.
In the right transept is the entrance to the Serpero Museum which houses the treasury with the Iron Crown of Lombardy.
It is situated in the historical center of Monza.
Inside is majestic with different chapel. Apart the Iron Crown, the most famous attraction of the church is the Chapel of Theodelinda.
