We had a terrible experience, we travelled on Dorado Sports fishing out of Puerto Rico. We were half an hour late leaving as the skipper was not organised. the captain had no helper, we were never offered food and 3 of the passengers were sick. It meant the toilet was out of action for most of the trip. The captain never went to see how the sick people were or he did not clean the toilet. He was in terrible form for the day and we caught little fish. We were back before any other boat.
I would not recommend Dorado Sports Fishing

Great trip out with a friendly and informative crew - and a very friendly bunch of fellow fishermen who all integrated well together and had good chat and joking.
Fishing was a bit slow (put down to bad currents etc) but enough was caught to keep things lively. The day flew in and I'm looking forward to booking a day or two next year.
An absolute bargain at 80 Euros, especially when you factor in the pick up and drop off to your hotel.
My only small suggestion would be that they maybe consider upgrading the small rod/reel combos but that's nothing that would stop me going out with them again.

Excellent fishing day for all, well explained by English speaking crew, nice sandwich and drinks. Very well organised and the crew can’t do enough for you. Loved it, wouldn’t go fishing with anyone else

Heartbreaking and non enjoyable experience for a fishing and nature loving human.

I was sceptic because of all these comments and told the owners exactly what I wanted to do. No trolling for marlin. Just spinning for barras and bonitos. So they put me on a bottom fishing trip with the crew of blue marlin 3, telling me i would have good chances, which the captain later denied.

The crew hasn't spoken a word to the guest, no: "hola, today we go out fishing for.... On... Meters." Nothing. Horrible for someone who is doing tourist fishing trips for a living.

We drove out about 500m straight from the harbor, anchored and never changed places even if nothing was caught besides 2 stingrays and a sea turtle.

They swallow the hooks and are just cut of with the hooks left in the animal. Seems to be common practice. I was told and shown that they use special hooks that are non toxic, which i want to mark as a positive thing.

Worst thing for me was that they clean out the bait boxes with a good sip of chlorine cleaner. Shaking it and dumping it straight to the ocean where they use to fish every day. Very very harmful for any water organism! Also one of the crew members dumped his cigarettes in the sea and made fun of me when I told him to stop it.

Gear was old and rumbly. Boat was clean and in good condition.

I told the owners later and they seem to be sorry for that, but as you can read here on Google, this problems are there for a long time and don't seem to be fixed. Business is running to good i think.

To anyone who wants to book a fishing trip: be critic and careful what you support with your money.
To the owners: please change your practice and see this as a chance. You have an interest in happy customers and a clean and fishrich ocean.

Please notice that I can only speak for my experience with blue marlin 3 - bottom fishing.

I have just returned from Gran Canaria and booked 2 separate trips. One was a private hire afternoon family trip and the other was a 6 hr multi-person morning trip. I caught a huge stingray and many other passengers also caught rays we also caught 2 huge barracudas. As well as good fishing, all of the team are great guys and even very kindly arranged for a jumper that i left on board to be dropped back at my hotel the following day. Hans is a great communicator and was very attentive. In all these trips really made our holiday and i would have no hesitation to recommend this company to others.

I was in a fishing trip with Cavalier on mid feb 2022. I caught a lot of small fish (at least 20 pieces around 200 gr each) so for me it was a ok-ish trip. But ..it is a but....i was in 2 fishing trips in Tenerife few time ago and pay for 1 rod...in Tenerife 1 rod means 1 big rod for big fish (bottom fishing) and because you have to wait until a big fish bite (sometime big bottom fish don't bite in entire trip) you get another small rod for fun (and for free), for small bottom fish (small=around 200-300gr but may have some good surprise). It is impossible to get nothing at small rod, you can get 2-3 fish at once, it keep you bussy and happy because you get fish in hooks (usuall can get a least 1-2 fish / 5 minutes). In trip with Cavalier i expected same rules like in Tenerife Island, but it was not. 1 rod at Cavalier means only 1 rod, you have to choose big rod or small rod (small rod=very few chances for big fish)...first they give me big rod but after 5 min i change for small road (and in my opinion it was a good choice). On boat some people paid for 2 or 3 rods so at, let's say 5 big rods, was only 2 or 3 bites in entire day(one sting ray escape, one rod caught a turtle, and i guess it was one more bite at big rods) so, as i said, it was a good choice to change my first big rod with a small one. And another negative thing: guy form deck put another 2 big rod with live baits for surface fishing and said something like "each time a fish will bite i will call someone to try catching that fish, in that way everyone will have a chance to catch a big fish from surface" (those 2 rods was extra, nobody paid for ).....and the fish bites and i realize "everyone" actually means "everyone who paid at least 2 rods" ( it was few bites at surface rods but guy from deck ask just from people who paid at least 2 rods, 1 or 2 guys had two chances for surface fishing, but since me and another guy paid only for 1 rod nobody called for us when fish bite). For me it was a nice fishing day, i catch few kilos of bream (i guess), i had activity all day, it was ok for me. Guy form deck it was helpful, no bad comment about that. Almost forgot another thing: prices. For 1 rod price is 70 euros (no comment about that) , for 2 rods price is 130, it is a 10 euros discount (1 guy/1 rod means 1 pick up+1 drop off+1 baguette+1 beer, 2 guys with 1 rod each means 2 pick up+2drop off+2 baghettes+2 beers, so i guess 10 euros discount for 1 guy with 2 rods it cover costs for 1 pick up+1 drop off+1 baguette+1 beer), but for 3 rods price is 200 euro which means third rods has 0 discount (1 rod=70 euros,2 rods=70+60=130, 3 rods=70+60+70) and i not understand why the third rod has 0 discount instead usual 10 euro (for the third rod you paid like for 1 rod but costs are less 1 pick up+1 drop off+1 baguette+1 beer, bait it cost 0 because you catch bait for big rod with small rod). And last thing, if you want a extra beer price is 1,5 euro/330 ml cheap can (in market price for same can is max 0.50 euros). My feeling is they put in the first place making much money as possible and in second place clients satisfaction. I understand it was a very very hard time with covid19 (maybe no clients for a year or more) but in my opinion making money AND clients satisfaction must pe on same 1 place.
I say again, for me it was a nice trip, guy from deck was polite, helpful, but some things must be improved.

Went with this charter to catch some tuna or barracuda ore a big size fish as I usually do every year in Canary Islands. But I receveid only small rope with small bites. There were not big ropes for all passengers, I had not the opportunity to use one. So I've catched only small fishes. The boat leaves from Portorico but have a stop at Arguineguin harbour. Also not many pasture to attract fishes in my opinion.
