I wanted to take my Grandson (8 years old) out on a boat trip to see Dolphin, Harbour Porpoise and birds and DSS’s two hour Safari was the perfect duration.
Rob was superb at pointing out the wildlife and his knowledge of the coast’s geology and history was brilliant too.
Friendly, safe and value for money. Also, they put the wildlife first which every operator should do.
My Grandson got to see Short-beaked Common Dolphin for the first time and right next to the boat so he had fantastic views. We also saw Harbour Porpoise and a Grey Seal so went away very happy.
Highly recommended if you’re in the area.

This was a first for my partner and our three children, I have been on boat trips before, but not in the UK.
I have got to say, this was the best experience we had while we were on holiday in Devon. The skipper and his mate clearly know their stuff and are expert seamen. We went out for the 2 hour tour and it was worth every penny, we explored the coastline and went out to sea. Did I mention, we saw Dolphins! Absolutely made our day, it is not a guarantee to see them, that is important to note, but the skipper knew exactly where to head and what to look for to improve our chances.
We were also blessed with the weather, not a bit of wind, still waters and beautiful sunshine.
Would definitely come back again if we return to Devon in the future.

Our trip on 28th April was for a special anniversary. As we were the only passengers on that sailing Rob and Eddie made sure we had a most memorable trip. Rob’s knowledge of the sea birds we saw along the coast was phenomenal and we encountered a wide variety during the voyage. Ed’s skill with handling the boat meant that we were able to get up close to the grey seals without disturbing them and all in all it was a most magical experience. I would recommend this trip to anyone yearning to see our local wildlife along the Devon Coast. You won’t be disappointed.

We booked for an hour's trip and all four of us had an awesome time; amazing considering my kids are 11 and 14 - and usually everything I suggest is 'boring'. But skipper Rob and crewman Ray are a fantastic team and demonstrated excellent local knowledge as we toured the beautiful coastline this part of the world has to offer. A highlight was seeing an array of wildlife, topped off by sightings of two seals playing nearby. Rob and Ray were mindful of everyone's interests, pointing out potential sites for my scuba mad family, prompting plans for another trip to Devon, and trying really hard to find us some dolphins. Alas, we weren't lucky (loads were spotted earlier in the day though) but that's another reason for us to rebook with Rob, next time for the two hour trip!
Overall, excellent value for money, a great way to explore the area, and entertaining for everyone. We will definitely be back.

Very friendly, professional and passionate. My 6 year old got a bit nervous but he tends to not be that adventurous on theme park rides etc. Myv8 year adored it. We were surrounded by dolphins for about 15 minutes and the crew were very friendly, attentive and well informed. This was a stunning trip and I would really highly recommend it. The skipper and crew clearly knew their stuff and so it was really interesting for adults as well as children. I could not praise it higher.... A great experience.... Many thanks.

We caught the sea safari from Brixham. We had a great time. The captain was so kind to our 2 year old, chatting to him about boats and ocean animals. He supervised him for a few minutes so we could photograph some porpoises and even introduced him to the skipper. We saw plenty of wildlife and the captain was very knowledgeable and informative about the wildlife and local area. I would recommend this as a fun trip for families and friends alike and thought it was good value for money.

Had an absolutely incredible experience on the sea safari experience with Rob and Ed. They went above and beyond, not just with the knowledge they provided about the coastline and animals we encountered, but with their commitment to ensuring that we got the most out of our experience. £35 is an absolute bargain and would highly recommend to anyone. I travelled from London with a skeptical mindset, thinking it would be a bit hit or miss with the wildlife we would see. However we were lucky enough to see the full range of animals on offer (including dolphins, seals and peregrin falcons) all thanks to their experience tracking and navigating. We will be wholeheartedly recommending to anyone who is in the area. An experience we will never forget, and the highlight of our trip!

WOW! this was a trip for my 80 year old father, his birthday present. The skippers (2) were so good with him and my mum (81) making sure they were seated ok; and that their life jackets fitted, that they feltsafe and answered all their questions. This was a very worthwhile trip and very good value for money. So much history and information given in an attractive way. Photos were taken by the skipper of our party...real nice touch.

fantastic morning! We were so lucky to get such a sunny day in late September and the water was so calm. Our skipper told us loads about the history of the local area before we had even left the harbour and explained where we were going to go, after taking us through all the health and safety point.
We saw the first pod of dolphins about 10 mins in, he knew exactly where to look and what to look for. We stayed alongside them for a little while, like someone else has mentioned he was very respectful that of the wildlife and of us being in their environment so when they swam in another direction we didn’t follow, allowing us a chance to have a look at some other things, some beautiful sea birds.
We then came across a second pod of about 15/20 and these came right up the to boat swimming alongside us for a good 20 minutes. Rob answered lots of questions about them, it was honestly the most incredible and humbling experience.
We then left them alone to go and see some newborn baby grey seals, a peregrine falcon, and tour the beautiful coastline too.
Thank you for a wonderful morning and the highlight of our year!

Really impressed. The trip was great fun and felt very safe. As my son said (as he threw his arms up in the air), 'This is why I was born!' Rob clearly knows his local history, so was able to point out places of interest. All of our group, aged between 9 and late 60s, agreed that we'd like to rebook again next year.
The sea was a bit choppy, so we didn't see dolphins, but it made the ride more fun. Lots of laughter. A great day out.

Yes well behaved dogs are welcome.
No dog life jackets are supplied but required if a trained help dog.
Must be kept on a lead and not be an anxious dog.
If in doubt about whether they would be worried please make other arrangements .

Hi Four years old is fine for the shorter 1h tour.
Sorry but our minimum age is 2years old. As we do not carry baby life jackets.

They are located on the back beach area, near to the New Quay Inn pub. Bookings are online, and you meet 30mins before your safari starts, at the launch to the side of the pub.

Not a problem as we have life jackets to fit all ages.
I would suggest that a two hour trip might be a bit long but the 1.5 and 1 hour trips will be fine.

We love dogs but don’t want them to be a nuisance to other passengers.Well behaved dogs on a lead are no problem.We don’t supply dog life jackets which is a requirement for guide dogs.Please add note when booking.

Would it be possible for an elderly man with mobility issues to come on one of your sea safaris?

We have had people with mobility issues board in the past .But I suggest you visit boarding area to see what is involved before booking.
There is steps with hand rail leading to a floating pontoon then a step down into rib.

We have life jackets to fit from 6 months old and do not charge for under twos .
We must be notified at time of booking as baby’s are counted in passenger numbers.Im coded for up to 12 people no matter what age.
The skipper will assess conditions on the day and has final say in who sails.
We also don’t recommend that pregnant ladies sail with us.
