A lovely Walk

The whole area of Duncombe Park is well kept and right on the doorstep of Helmsley, look out for craft fairs held at the estate too.

a lovely sized house , beautifully restored and still a family home , well worth a visit , pretty views and well kept gardens , a more intimate stately home.

We have just visited Helmsley for a couple of days and decided to go to duncombe park and gardens. Unlike the last reviewer we had to pay there are no gardens to speak off just parkland so it should be advertised as such. Also it says on the signs that there is a tea room and there isn't which we... More

We checked our HHA handbook and found Duncombe Park at Helmsley on a recent visit to North Yorkshire. Now perhaps because we have Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall on our doorstep, we expected too much. We went through the entrance area, which also houses the Birds of Prey centre and, apparently has no connection with the house. We... More

I come here for dog shows and I can not fault it at all. The place is incredibly pretty, very tranquil. Just an amazing location. Short walk to the village too which is handy.

We go to Helmsley often but who would have known that this large and beautiful park lies right on the edge of the town to the side of the castle? The house is not open to the public but the grounds are and are interesting and well kept, as well as offering excellent views around North Yorkshire. The reception was... More

Whatever the time of year, Duncombe Park holds pleasant walks of any length to suit the explorer. There are some fantastic old twisted trees, and in the spring, the sheep and lambs have right of way on the road up to the house. The estate is very well kept, and the view from the road as you come from the... More

Helmsley is so lucky to have this jewel on it's doorstep. You can loose yourself here all day. Walking, picnic, relaxing, taking photo's, stalking the wildlife - - - so much to do if you have an inventive mind. Try and find the WWII gun / tank emplacements in the woods or by the bird of prey centre. Walk down... More

it was so lovely to see some different varieties of birds in the displays as places I have been before fly the same birds, the Burrowing Owl was my favourite. The only downside I found was more to do with the grounds of Dunscombe Hall, country walks are advertised but don't seem to offer much, the most flowers I saw... More
