About
We are an artisan chocolate maker and our purpose built factory is open to visitors - a popular tourist attraction in Leyburn. Watch our chocolatiers at work and learn all about chocolate from its history, to where it is grown and how it is made. We have example cocoa pods, beans and nibs to view as well as a film to watch and a chocolate quiz. We run workshops most weekends and holidays suitable for children and adults - try your hand at making a chocolate pizza or lolly. We also offer bookable events such as truffle and chocolate classes as well as parties. We have an on site cafe serving premium coffee, homemade cakes and savoury light bites (such as panini's etc). The cafe also has free WiFi. Our factory shop is crammed with our chocolate creations for you to browse or indulge. Together with a loose chocolate counter and a selection of giftware and hampers you are sure to find a lovely gift or special treat. Free parking, accessible facilities, toilets and nappy change.

Amy hosted our chocolate workshop, we created pumpkins and a ghost from molten chocolate we poured ourselves. Amy (Yu-Chen)was lovely and encouraged us whilst we made our creations. Suitable for all ages, 6, 44 and 69 all loved it. We definitely recommend this 👍🏼

Three adults, a ten year and a three year old absolutely loved the chocolate workshop on a rainy day. Amy, the host, was fantastic! We made and decorated pumpkins, ghosts, lollies and a pig! Everyone loved the experience. This was our second trip and and we will be back! The cafe and shop are fab too!

A great afternoon doing the chocolate truffle workshop, brilliant friendly staff. Make time to visit the cafe for cake and the shop for treats if you're attending a workshop!

Visited with my friend and adult son with autism. Lovely LOVELY lady from Thailand was so kind spending time chatting with him. He did the make a pizza experience which was great fun for him.
A different lady prepared the equipment and melted chocolate for my son’s and also a lovely young couple from Bristol’s pizza making experience……
She maybe needs some food hygiene training….whilst separating a disposable plastic apron from the packet she licked her fingers to assist herself as they were stuck together….she then insisted quite rightly that my son wash his hands but didn’t wash her own before she brought his equipment to him and the chocolate jug to him. It gave me the ick!

Very disappointed that you no longer offer pick and mix chocolates. I popped in to treat myself as I often do although I hadn’t been for a while. I looked forward to being able to choose a few of my favourites only to be told you no longer sell by weight and in boxes only for a set price. The reason given was to reduce plastic waste however all your chocolate figures are sold in plastic packaging so I don’t believe this was entirely truthful. I left disappointed and after many years as a loyal customer, unfortunately I will not be returning and instead visit a chocolate shop that caters for individuals looking to treat themselves rather than for just buying gifts.

Very disappointed by this review and aspertions. Our chocolate counter remains a pick and mix counter contrary to the comments. As was correctly explained, we are reducing plastic use. It is not possible to repackage everything, but counter chocolates had the highest volume of bag use and there was a viable alternative in the form of ballotin boxes which we offer in a range of sizes. In addition, there are a number of other reasons including that some of these chocolates take up to 3 days to make with painted decoration, just dropping them in a bag was damaging them. Also, we wished to avoid customers getting a pricing shock after they fill a bag.
By preselecting a box size/number the total price is clear, transparent and not unexpected to the Customer.
I am not really seeing the issue of the chocolates being provided in a card box instead of a plastic bag in all honesty.

we found Inspired Chocolates just by chance after visiting Harmby Waterfalls and had a wonderfull time at the chocolate factory, making our own chocolate pizzas, I enjoyed a cuppa and caramel cheesecake and Tom filled his boots with a chocolate drizzled Waffle. We've brought enough chocolates home with us to last us until ... next week 🤣🤣 and would deffo recommend it to anyone visiting this side of the woods.

We had been on the Wensleydale train and ended up in Leyburn, went for a walk and saw a chocolate factory sign. Obviously having children we had to go 😅 we arrived and after having a look the kids decided to make chocolate pizzas which they really enjoyed doing. My husband and I sat in the cafe with our dog and had some drinks and cakes whilst the children made their pizzas
they then went to the shop and bought extra chocolates and sweets 😋
All the staff are lovely and friendly. Thanks 👍

We visited to explore the shop and see what they had on offer. When walking around the shop the lady said that the children could make their own chocolate pizza for £3 extra than it was to buy the already made versions, so we paid for them to have a go.
What became very clear is that you don’t make the ‘pizza’ product they sell in the shop, you make a very thin button version with limited toppings. The young lady running the workshop is very downbeat and very controlling, not allowing you to use all of the chocolate available. So the 200g ‘pizza’ in the shop becomes a 100g flat button.
Upon asking the management why it’s not a ‘pizza’ they told me it was going to be, I was told I was being petty as we didn’t use a mould that they use for the shop, but they aren’t available to customers. They told me to have my money back and leave!
Average chocolate, false promotion of making something you don’t, and rude management….give it a miss unless you want a stressful afternoon and pay £22 for 200g across 2 large chocolate buttons, instead of £16 for the 200g ‘pizzas’ they show you you will make and sell in the shop pre-made!

I am not going to dignify this with a long response as I suspect this guy is a free loader or just an angry man judging by his actions and seeing his many other neagative reviews/rants on here. He embrassed himself with both other Customers and the Team, all of us just wanting him to leave asap. He seemed obsessed with comparing the chocolate pizzas his Partner and Son had just made in a 30 minute workshop experience to that of a product made by a professional Chocolatier - which is made in a different way and is not comparible nor meant to be, to the workshop experience. We had already agreed to refund as for whatever reasons he was disapointed, but he just continued to rant on slagging off anything and everything making things up such as we "microwave our chocolate". It seems the ranting continues here..... Kaci who was running the workshps was a little upset, but mainly confused when we asked her about it, as she was unaware of anyone not enjoying themselves. Thankfully other Customers present were equally shocked and reassured her they thoroughally enjoyed themselves. We felt sorry for his Son, so let him take the chocolate he had made regardless.

Hello it cost us 12 per child to make the chocolate pizzas I think the animals were 15 but yes advisable to book
Is my dog allowed in the coffee shop?

Hi Adele,
I am very sorry but as a working chocolate factory, we are not able to allow dogs inside.
This is for both food hygiene reasons and because chocolate is toxic to dogs.
We do have an outside seating area for the café where dogs are welcome and have a water bowl.
Kind Regards, Richard.
