It's just the price, really. £8 per head for non-members and the arboretum itself is very disappointing. No signage anywhere telling you about the various trees or plantings. No real landscaping or pathing anywhere, to be honest, I just felt like I was walking around in a bit of woodland, it could have been any old bit of woodland. A... More

Although the temperature was cold, we spent a good hour walking around the Winkworth Estate. It may be February but we saw banks of Snowdrops and drifts of Daffodils! Camelia's and even some early Rhododendron putting on a show. So peaceful as not many people there, disturbed some deer that were feeding - what a wonderful sight. Will return again... More

My most recent visit was on a grey January day and it was still a delight to visit. The lack of leaves on the trees allows glimpses of views you won't see the rest of the year.

No matter what the season, the walks are always enjoyable and accessible. Quietest first and last thing in the day.

My favourite dog walking place. Well behaved dogs and owners only please! This is a lovely unique place. With lovely staff. A quaint hut in the woods teashop. Gorgeous gorgeous acers. Lovely lake. But visitors, especially with dogs, please respect the space.

This is one of the best NT sites I have visited. It is really peaceful and also a good place to see a wide variety of trees. The boathouse is unbelievably peaceful - sitting on the porch looking out over the lake. If it were not for the occasional shouts of over enthusiastic children (and sometimes their parents trying to... More

Thanks very much for your kind review and useful feedback, Paul. I thought you might like to know that we are embarking on a new re-labelling project at the moment, to make it easier for visitors to identify the trees they see. I'll also make sure your comments about covered seating are fed back. By the way, the huge coppiced... More

We took our 2 year old here in the autumn. He really loves splashing in the puddles. Be aware that the car park can be particularly busy on lovely autumnal days however it's never crowded once you get it.

I cannot believe having been born and brought up in the area I have finally visited Winkworth Arboretum. This is after I had left the area around 20 years ago. After slobbing around after Christmas having eaten far too much I needed somewhere to go to blow the cobwebs from between my ears. Being the number one place in Godalming... More
