National Trust Castle in beautiful surroundings. Tour of the house with Jennifer took just under the hour and was very pleasant. Splendid views on a sunny day. Disappointed no flower garden to walk in.

We enjoyed our visit to the castle. The tour guide was very accommodating of questions and very knowledgeable. He also wove in the story of the family that made it more engaging. We loved getting to know more of my husband’s family history.

Whilst holidaying in Perthshire we decided to venture to Aberdeenshire and have a Castle Day knowing there were a lot in the same area. Unfortunately I didn't do my research very well as on the way there, I discovered in my N Trust guide that...More

The existing pictures set the scene - Cinderella's pad in the heart of Scotland. Internally the castle lives up to expectations, interesting rooms and informative guides make the guided tours most enjoyable. The narrow spiral staircases can be a challenge for those of a certain...More

If there are no maps of the walks at the car park, then when we are open, they are available at the kiosk and also in the castle. There is a programme in place to clear the paths when staff and resources are available. We...More

The guided tour of craigievar was just excellent given by a guide called Evelyn. She was extremely informative. Guided tours are the only way to learn about houses and the families that dwelt therein and today's was one of the best! The castle is just...More

This has to be the most adorable castle to ever exist. The grounds are beautiful. Its size and color make it seem like there should be rainbows and unicorns present (but I didn't see any). This was absolutely my favorite castle in the Highlands, and...More

Craigievar Castle and its delightful tour were my favorites of our Scotland trip. Unable to ascend stairs, I was taken to an outside bench for a personal 'book tour' in the sunshine. John L. sat with me for an hour, telling the castle's history and...More

The castle is pink and rises 5 stories. You climb thru the entire castle using narrow turret stairs. You end up on the roof that has great views of the area. The guide was beyond knowledgeable. It is filled with furniture and decorations that go...More

This is one of the most enjoyable castles we visited in our week tour of the Highlands. This is a very delightfully pink and personal castle, no moats and ramparts - just a small (for a castle) dwelling with fascinating history, and a wealth of...More

I can't imagine you would be able to take a dog into the castle. And I'd bet they have to be on a leash in the grounds. But those are just guesses. Check their website and see what it says.

Unfortunately the castle has quite steep stairs up to several levels and to really appreciate it you need visit all floors. I think your brother would feel left out if all he could do was to view the castle from outside.
