We encountered by chance while driving down the road. So we stopped. Glad we did. There were no other visitors. You drive up a wee little lane and park at the gate. Walk up a little hill, and you are there. A castle more like...More

When we visited, Corgarff's wall was being refurbished and was protected under scaffolding, so we missed the imposing site I'm sure it is on a good day. None the less, we enjoyed our visit, after catching our breath from the walk up from the car...More

Corgarff Castle has been around since 1550 and has been used as a family stronghold , by the Jacobites and as a garrison base for the redcoats after Culloden. The castle is now looked after by Historic Scotland and set in among the beautiful Strathdon...More

I visited Corgarff on a wet, windy day and understandably there were no other visitors at that time. There is a decent sized car park with two disabled spaces however there is a long, fairly steep uphill track to the castle which would make things...More

Another beautiful HIstoric Scotland site, not so much a castle, more of a fort where the English remained after the Jacobite uprising. Set in the lovely countryside of Strathdon and can be seen for miles away and also en-route on the Cockbridge to Tomintoul Road...More

While passing by Cock bridge you will see this small castle on a hill, the green is relaxing and the sheeps bring serenity while feeding their small. Nice view
