About
Western Isles Cruises LTD offer unforgettable experiences that will live with you forever. We operate the Knoydart Ferry Service, 1 Hour Wildlife Cruises & Private charter for Weddings and special occasions, plus fast remote drop off and pickups in our Red Bay RIB. We run 3 MCA approved passenger vessels: The jewel in our crown is the MV Western Isles, an 81 passenger traditional wooden ferry, with a licensed bar and toilets. This has operated as the ferry service up Loch Nevis for the past 60 years. Next up, the new purpose built in 2018, 42 passenger Catamaran the MV Larven named after the Munro on the Knoydart peninsula. And finally a 10 passenger RedBay RIB, Big Dipper. This bad boy can do 40 knots and can drop you off or pick you up from anywhere, or alternately just take you on a wildlife rib adventure you will never forget. So for your next adventure or special occasion let Western Isles make it unforgettable. We pride ourselves on our service and the quality of our staff.

Great fun even on a rainy day as my trip was. Crew were great. Liked the bar as a wee dram was required. Saw quite a few seals but I was mainly there for the boat ride. Just standing on deck soaking up the waves and swell made me happy.

This is a trip I have repeated a number of times since 1989. It is a delight, in every respect. It's quite short in duration, roughly half an hour. To be honest, I have never done it really rough weather. The Western Isles is a sturdy vessel that moves through the water with reassuring progress. It runs punctually with a crew who are helpful, cheerful and competent. The scenery is peerless and a joy to all who love and respect Scotland and this special part of the United Kingdom. The reward at the end of this sea passage, is alighting on the unique Knoydart peninsula and the hamlet of Inverie. Enjoy.

Easy to book online and organise our day trip. Jane the skipper was happy and friendly and full of enthusiasm. Great boat trip. When we were there we turned left at Inverie and walked to Sandaig! A perfect walk to get there and back and enjoy a pint at The Old Forge before our trip home. Thank you 😊

This was our first Western Isle cruise and we choose the wild life cruise as we were tight for time and it was worth the money, as the staff were so helpful and pointed out a minke whale, common seals and lots of birds

What an incredibly nice bunch of people run this ferry. Despite handling mountains of our luggage they’re always a delight. A great advert for the Highlands.
