The Timeball station is long gone. For years I enjoyed looking at it from my lounge window but the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes have reduced it to a Pile of rubble. There is some talk of rebuilding part of it. But for the moment there is...More

You won't be able to visit the timeball any time soon. Sadly it collapsed during the 2011 quakes so you'll just have to savour the memory of this piece of seafaring history...

The Timeball Station was mortally damaged in the Earthquake of 2011. It was being dismantled/deconstructed stone by stone when the 2 Earthquakes in June 2012 completely destroyed this wonderful landmark.

The Timeball Station was badly damaged in the February 2011 earthquake and collapsed in the June 2011 earthquake. There are plans to reconstruct the tower but the time frame is uncertain.

Sadly this unique monument over Lyttelton Harbour fell down in the 2011 earthquake. Sic transit gloria mundi.

This beautiful building was destroyed in the 2011 earthquake, cross it off your to do list! It does not look as if it will ever be restored.
