Unfortunately closed for public holiday when we visited!
Aug 2019
Such a shame this place was closed for a public holiday when we arrived. The plantation house dominates the 'village' made up of small units dotted around it. Its our own fault, we should of checked with our hotel before visiting.

Great for souvenir shopping
Aug 2019
Agree with previous reviewer .. this is no hassle souvenir shopping. There is no hard sell, you can come freely inside and browse and ask questions without being pressurised to buy. The prices are cheaper than most other places we came across , no crowds and good quality.

The 'village' is very pleasant, set out in small cabins around what appeared to be a plantation residence with enough parking spaces. Also the sellers told us that they encourage local youth to participate in their projects - a creol doll that we bought was made by a person without an arm which is very touching and has a special meaning to us now.

Quiet place
Jul 2019 • Family
It's a small craft village with some hut type shops selling crafts and souvenirs. There is a plantation house in the middle which is good to visit.

No Hassle Souvenir Shopping
Jun 2019 • Couples
We visited this small craft village whilst hiring a taxi for the day to tour the extent of Mahe Island, and like a lot of other taxi drivers, it is obviously on their itinerary to get the tourists there.

On the whole, the quality of the crafts we good, with lots of fabrics and coconut products, and the prices were reasonable and certainly cheaper than in some other shops on the island.

The 'village' was set out in small cabins around what appeared to be a plantation residence, and the best part of it all was that there was absolutely no hard sell whatsoever, we were free to browse, handle the crafts, and walk away without buying if nothing caught our eye, it was even met with polite greetings and goodbyes.

If you are passing by, this is a good place to pull in and have a look, it will give you a good benchmark for the type and price of souvenirs generally available, without too much of the tacky mass produced stuff.

Tourist trap
Jul 2019 • Couples
We visited here on a trip around Mahe. I suspect it’s a place all the drivers call into. A series of little huts sell the usual fare, tee shirts, carved coconut shells etc. I suspect most of it is mass produced but the odd hut actually had a craftsman in situ. Actually working. But really if your driver suggests calling in here, give it a miss.

A place to buy locally made stuffs with coconut
Jun 2019 • Friends
Easily accessible with parking.
There is a museum which is interesting.
Colourful little shops selling handcrafted items beautifully made except the price is exorbitant...had it been cheaper i believe it would have been a perfect little shopping haven.
You can spend about 30-45 mins there.
Friendly people working there.
We reached there at Lunch time but unfortunately the restaurant was closed.

Mixture of artisan crafts, clothing, paintings etc
May 2019 • Couples
We visited the craft village as part of an around the island tour.

The crafts on display were of reasonable quality. There are about 10 individual craft outlets here. They range from pottery to furniture to clothing to paintings.

You should not expect a very diverse range of crafts. Nor should you expect necessarily the highest quality. However these do represent a selection of local crafts and artisans. We bought a few items and the price we paid was very reasonable.

In the center of the craft village is an old plantation house that you can visit. It takes no more than five minutes. There is also a restaurant at the entrance to the village.

As with most things in the Seychelles you did not come here to visit craft shops, markers etc. You are here to relax and enjoy the beaches and the scenery. With that in mind these craft shops are just fine and will give you an opportunity to bring home a souvenir of your time in Seychelles.

Lovely Art Village
Oct 2018 • Couples
Cute little village with lovely souvenirs. The people are very friendly and sell handmade products. A great experience was especially, that the people there let you the time to overlook everything and don’t harass you to buy anything.

Crafts and more
Oct 2018
We visited early afternoon and were surprised to find that at least half the craft shops were closed. However, those that were open provided a good range of local artisan goods and you could also meet the artists and watch them at work. The bonus attraction is the Plantation House which provided an insight into how the rich lived in the Victorian times on this island.
