We were brought here as part of the island hopping tour by a speed boat and got an hour to spend as we wished until the boat came to pick us up. A nice walk through the Dayang Bunting Marble Geo-Forest Park lead us to this beautiful freshwater lake. You will see many monkeys up close while u walk but if you don't pay much attention and walk past them, they will not harass you and your belongings. There are paddle boats to rent out for RM15 per 30 mins and its very relaxing to admire the environment from the lake since you are away from the crowd. I also payed RM5 and got a life jacket when i was getting into the water but you are advised not to get into the water from the boat, only from the platform. Over all the experience was nice and memorable.

The Island Hopping tour, Girlfriend and I took was worth it. "Always Her Idea" We paid something like RM35.00 Per Person. The Island Hopping Tour that’s organized to take tourists around the various islands and beaches. There are many Tour station at the Pantai Chenang and the one we took was just in front of AB Hotel.
A pick up point where they will take you to the pier. The lovely Boat ride and waves were Awesome. We had to walk quite a distant to the lake."Totally worth it" There were Man Made steps and walking path. Be careful on the Troops of Monkeys and "DO NOT FEED THEM" We have seen Monkeys pulling bags and food from other tourist. We also manage to see a huge Iguana minding its own business.
The fresh water itself was calm, deep and clean. The surroundings were amazing and quiet. This oasis freshwater lake is also known as the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden and is considered to be one of the most sacred and beautiful things to do in Langkawi.
There is a Myth from the locals saying the lake is for helping women become pregnant. Apparently, there are some mystical powers within the lake that help barren women who are having difficulty in getting pregnant, all they have to do is take a dip in the cold waters of the lake.
Overall the tour was lovely and we had fun. We hope you feel the same.

We actually visited this lake on a company trip as part of a tour in 2013. A simple lake with a life jacket rental shop nearby. It did not look super special, but was special is what happened to the ladies who swam there that day.
As the legend has it women would swim there of they were trying to get pregnant. We were not superstitious. We were skeptical, laughed it off and we had a good time swimming.
The water is murky and you will not be able to see the bottom of the lake. So if you are squimish, best to rent a life vest. Otherwise, keep in mind that the lake is still water not salt water. You will have less bouyancy compared to swimming in the ocean and need a lot of strength to stay afloat.
A few months later, the three ladies who swam here including me met at a dinner. We all were pregnant and due the same year 2014! Perhap a coincidence? Perhaps some natural compounds in the water that induces fertility? Owh yes, one of the three ladies have been trying to be pregnant for a while prior to this trip.
Worth checking out if you are already in Langkawi but I wouldn't make this lake as a sole reason to go to Langkawi as there are many other attractions to enjoy.

Beautiful natural setting but shocked and disgusted at the burning of copious quantities plastic near the entrance. Allegedly by construction workers but most locals appeared ambivalent to the toxic sight and smell!!

After taking boat to the lake of pregnant maiden for about 10 mins ride, we had to walk quite a distant to the lake. climbing stairs and fighting the monkeys and preventing them from stealing your stuffs. Be careful with you bags. they wont give it back once they got their hands on your stuffs. once you reached the lake, you can swim. Our boat guy gave us about 1hour to spend at the lake. its a nice lake. after the lake tour, our boat guy took us to an island where eagles are. we throw bits of chicken into the sea and the eagles will come and grab the chicken and fly away. But its amusing when the eagles came flying very close to our boat to grab the chicken. Overall tour, 4/5.

I was on an island hoping trip. And we were given only one hr at this place.
Despite the fact that there's just too many wild monleys around (which would snatch any food that's in your hands), the ten minutes walk from the jetty to the fresh water bay was indeed a satisfying one. We were greeted by a huge platform where visitors could park their items and jump in to the 30 feet deep bay.
I love it there! Surrounded by lushes forests, it's still surprisingly peaceful though there's so many people there.
I don't mind spending more than one hr there. I love the serenity of the place. Just remember to keep your food in the bags and zip up! Or else you'll have a tail of monkeys following you from the back.. ;)
Cheers.

This is a tacky stop on the island hopping trips. MYR6 to get in - no problem, but the walk to the lake is a head-down brisk walk to avoid the aggressive macaques if you are carrying a bag. Walk in a group or leave your bag on the boat. The macaques and quite possibly tourists leave litter averywhere, ruining what should be a beautiful environment.
Once at the lake the tacky swan pedalos and other watersport options aimed at milking tourists, ruin a beautiful lake. There is nowhere to sit if you don't want to give in to the pushy salesmen trying to get you on a kayak and it is pretty overcrowded.
It is sad that this and other eco-tourism opportunities have been missed on these beautiful, plastic-covered islands.

No need to go, garbage everywhere like rest of Langkawi. To many people and just felt dirty after coming back. Monkeys that people feed everywhere.
The boat ride was the only fun and nice thing. Langkawi really need to do something about the garbage..It is litterary a dump now.
Nothing Eco about this place.

Rent a kayak / paddleboat and within a few minutes you are in the middle of the freshwater lake on your own, with only the sounds of the forests and your own breathing. There are scuba rental options too! Combine it with a trip to Kilim Geoforest Park and Beras Basah Island for a full day tour!

Hi, may I know how did you book for the island hopping tour package with boat? Is it via advanced booking before visiting or find the package on the spot when arrived at the Kuah Jetty or at Pantai Cenang?

Hi! Is it possible to take a boat to this lake without doing an island hopping tour? I've been duped into too many tours and really just want to spend some good quality time at this lake without the mass tourist agenda. Thank you!
