If you find yourself in Lambert's Bay, a visit to Bird Island is an interesting experience and well worth the small entrance fee.

A good educational visit to a bird sanctuary. Guano is not nice smelling but a very enriched fertilizer. A must to visit to see what is being done to protect this wildlife.

A top important colony of gannets but also cormorants and fur seals, very well equipped for observing the birds without disturbing them.

Very well put together and a most enjoyable experience. We are birders so loved all the sea birds; the seagulls had little babies. Paths are well organised and there is a hide from which you can see the gannet colony plus lots of information boards...More

Our second visit to the island and the facilities have drastically deteriorated since our previous visit a few years back. The penguin facility is abandoned and the facilities in general are in urgent need of maintenance. This is disappointing and unlike Cape Nature and not...More

Yes there is a small fee but being part of a group I do not know the exact amount as this was included as part of the price of our package for a tour of 10 days.

You can park outside Isabella's Restaurant (no problem finding parking both times we visited). This is inside the harbour gate and next to the causeway entrance. As for time, it depends how interested you are by the birds... More

it's not really an island - a projectory off the harbour. There is a "sleepy" type of town where you can park - probably for free, but i'm not sure. However, there is parking in the harbour. The gannets were a wonderful... More
