Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The mountain is easy to hike up as all paths are paved. There are two different trams that cost 50 RMB that you can take up and down the mountainside. The top of the mountain features a old temple with beautiful Buddhist displays and a fantastic view of the bay and port showing all the large ships coming and going from the city. The monks there were not very social and did not seem to be happy overall. On the lower levels of the mountain, you can ride small paddleboats for 25 RMB and buy lots of incense to burn in the temples along with snacks and other small children's toys. Immediately outside parks are many small restaurants and more places to buy incense.

As you enter the park from the main entrance, most people immediately turn left and follow the traditional path up the mountain. However, if you turn to the right, there is a lovely small garden area that is much quieter and it offers a calmer way up the mountain side, though admittedly with less to see. You can also take one of the two trams from here, and avoid the hustle and bustle and 50 seemingly identical shops along the popular pathway.

In Nantong itself, this is the best daytime attraction. (In the evening, try a boat ride on the canal and see the lights.)

There are many steps to the top of the "mountain", quite steep. Very good exercise to walk up. Good views of Nantong city, and also out to the water where you can see the ships. Go on a day when the air quality is not too unhealthy, since you will be breathing heavy from the walk up, and will want clear views from the observation decks.

The temple is reasonably nice, though you can't get very good pictures of it from the top because you will be very close and looking straight up. But inside there were monks dressed in their gold colored robes, keeping a steady rhythm on a drum while people kneeled for a prayer.

At the bottom of the mountain, there is an area with a creek and also a large statue of a wolf that people were climbing up onto to get pictures taken.

I enjoyed the hike and the scenery. Was worth the trip, below are my pros and cons:

Pros:
- Easy Hike
- Great view of the city from the top
- Lots of fun history

Cons
- Not the most spectacular temple to see in all of China but still fun.

Very enjoyable and the temples at the top and the spectacular views of Nantong are well worth the effort.

Advice it is a long climb up so take your time and enjoy the scenery (and drink water)

Easy walk up to nice views. Go on a nice weather day. Even in winter it was a good way to get some walking in nice surroundings.

This is a good mini activity that can be done in half a day or less. The temple lies about 20 mins southwest of the city. Tickets are 50 yuan each and there’s like a thousand steps to climb to the top. For the old, infirm and lazy, there is a cable car but I don’t think they switch it on unless you give them a good reason why you can’t climb. It also costs another 59 yuan (I think).

At the top is a small temple with your standard bhuddist idols/figures. You’ll see monks chant away and locals praying.

If you walk through the temple, to the other side, you’ll get views of Nantong. It’s not spectacular but hey, you’re in Nantong, not Shanghai.

You’ll see row after row of dilapidated buildings and amongst the haze.

If you go in winter (as I did) make sure you keep waking and don’t linger too much or your legs will cool down and jam up on the way down.

Chinese experience. On a good day it is nce to look at the river traffic. Decent prices but boat ride is terrible so never do, waste of money.

This is a beautiful spot and like so many Chinese mountains has well formed pathways, a pretty Temple and gardens. Ohhhhh and a cable car of course if you prefer to het up to the top fast. It's definitely worth a visit.

My top tip for a memory on Wolf Mountain is the amazing view of the Yangtze River from below the temple (top of the cable car ride). With Nantong so close to the sea the river here is vast and wide and the view is special. There being so many large ships entering and leaving the river you can't help be be impressed.
