- doctor-indyeahMumbai, India723 contributionsView Worth A King's EveningI am not too amazed why the king would choose this place to spend an evening! It's the grand view and clouds above you at a hand's stretch that would make you feel like on the top of the world. A must visit place when at Madikeri. There is an evening musical fountain and hence it becomes crazy crowded. I would recommend you to visit during morning hours.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 November 2023

A breath-taking view awaits you! Beautiful scenery surrounds the valley in every direction. It is nature at its very finest, with lush greenery and a spectacular view. In the evening, we see a beautiful sunset, and this will depend on the day you visit as a sunny day will lead to a beautiful sunset. The evening light and sound water show are performed around 19:00. An ideal environment for family gatherings can be found at this location.

Raja's Seat is located in the heart of Madikeri (Coorg) city. Once you enter the Garden, you are amazed by its beauty ! There are colourful splash of multitude of flowers in bloom and the breathtaking scene with lovely aroma of flowers makes you awe stuck. As you go down few stairs, there is sunset view point and one gets mesmerised to see sun going down in the mountains and slowly darkness engulfs the whole area.At 7.30 pm or so there is light and water show. Lot of tourists throng this place to enjoy the colourful light show. Its must for all visitors coming to Coorg to enjoy this lovely garden with rare flowers and huge topiary designs of animal shape

Known for its sunset views, this is a public garden with the typical landscaping, children's play area, your usual road side vendors crowding the entrance. And a musical fountain, that some you like to see. Other than that this place is too crowded for comfort. There are better places than this from where you can get sunset views.

You will fall in love with sunsets. It’s a very pleasant and beautiful experience. To add to this the Small garden they are maintaining is very impressive. Maintained well. A bit crowded as it’s popular but you can pick your spot and immerse in the sunset experience.

It is a view point where you can see the clear valley and mountain ranges. The view is just like any other range view points. They have made a park around the view point with animal statues for kids to enjoy.
Overall a very ordinary place.

Located within the town, the place seems to one of the most popular hangout spots for tourists as well as for locals. We visited couple of times and found the place crowded every time. It is a well-maintained garden that offers nice valley view, however when we visited, it was foggy and hence could not get much view. The garden also offers certain activities like zip lining, toy train etc. In the evening, we witnessed musical fountain, which was though small and with music in local language, was enjoyable. The place presents a refreshing setting and enjoyable environment especially for family. An ideal place for leisurely stroll and relax.

A nice place to stop at sunset and take in the view but it is very commercialised and busy. There's a load of fairly random statues in the park some of which make sense e.g. rhino, elephant, but others that are just a bit random like dinosaurs and rabbits. Not entirely sure what to make of that!

This place has a good view but gets super crowded during sunset. We felt as if we have come to a theatre and the sunset event is a movie. It being located at the centre of Madikeri is perhaps the most visited place...but this has led to the lost charm of the place. It got unthinkably crowded during the evening and we could not enjoy the sunset much. Even it was impossible to take a picture without random people photobombing. For me sunrise/sunset is always associated with calmness but with the chaos of people there it lost the essence. I will not recommend this place unless someone has nothing better to do in the evening.

Road to Raja's Seat is as good as any road in a town. Parking is by the road, but finding space is not a problem. It is quite close to the city centre - one can walk down in say 15-20 minutes. It is on a hill, but one doesn't realize that and it is not a climb, because the entire Madikeri is at a height.

Written 8 October 2017
Raja's seat and Raja's Tomb are two different places. There is an entry fee to Raja's seat since it is a view point, but Raja's Tomb has no entry fees and it is located along the road.

Hi, I am planning to take my parents to coorg in Sept. Very confused in terms of places to take them? My mother has knee issues, so can't walk much. Where can I take them? Should we take up accommodation in madikheri or kushalnagar? which will be better to minimise travel time to visit any of the places? Need help urgently. Tia
Written 14 July 2016
hello priyanka, let me know your starting point. if you are coming from Bangalore or Mysoor, Kushal nagar will be the starting point. from there you should get the golden temple. vehicle will reach up to the main gate of the temple so your mam don't need to walk a lot, after that move to madikari. on the way you should get Cauvery Nisargadhama, but it will not stable for your mam. we need to walk around 3 km. abbi falls also not stable. Raja seat is the better option for your mam. and you can stay in madikari itself.

Is Raja's Seat easily accessible to older people? Are there too many steps / too much of walking distance from the parking?
