You can feed the animals with carrots. Some animal such as giraffes have big open space. However, some animals are in very bad shape. The lonesome uran utan looks miserable in the cage. The tigers are kept in small cages. A pony is walking free around the zoo, however not well taken care of (e.g. long hoofs). Too many birds are kept in small cages and are all miserable. A hedgehog was kept in small space with no shade, which was not clean. the Overall, we do not recommend this place as the animals are treated poorly and this business should not be supported.

Small zoo but well kept and with enough animals to rival some small countries' national zoos. Worth a visit if you have small kids. You can buy buy food to hand feed the animals. I liked the aviary the most.

This place is pristine and most of the animals we saw were healthy and seemed content with their fate, which is better than the working conditions for millions of humans. Some animals just can't adapt to captivity, so what do you do, pay to improve the living conditions, or put the suffering animal to sleep? You can't let wild animals run around uncontrolled outside their native habitat. So-called animal lovers don't want to help improve the living conditions but they don't have the honesty to advocate for the only other course of action. They just walk away and express their negativity. Bonanza is immaculate, the landscaping and architecture wonderful, the cages relatively large and clean. Many habitats are open, allowing people to look right in the eyes of an animal mind rooted in the present moment. These animals are true ambassadors that could not be doing more to awaken people to the needs and rights of non-human sentient beings.
The views and the massive trees are unforgettable. Our small kids never had so much fun! After the reasonable admission fee, there is no effort to take your money. They have a very clean, minimal snack bar, with nothing more than Ramen and Ete ice cream (yum) for people like us that thought there would be food peddlers like everywhere else in Thalland, No vendors, no cars, no music, no self-congratulating BS about saving the earth. What more can you ask for?

If you have young children who love feeding animals, then you should consider visiting. My kids absolutely love it and it’s the highlight of our trip. There were so many animals (ponies, pigs, alpacas, birds, turtles, giraffes, rabbits, etc) to feed and it wasn’t crowded at all so you can really feed freely without queuing or jostling with anyone. We even got to feed the lions. However the living conditions of the animal cages is pretty sad. It isn’t well maintained and I felt really bad for the animals. Especially the orang utan, the poor animal seems to have lost the will to live. Though it was a great experience feeding for my kids to bottle feed the baby lion cub, I wish this wasn’t available. The poor cub was locked in a tiny cage except when visitors pay for the cub feeding and it seems like the cub was desperately looking for more milk after the feeding session. A lot more can be done for the welfare of the animals and the entertainment of visitors shouldn’t be prioritise above the well-being of the animals. My kids would love to come back again but I’m not sure if I want to support a place like this.

No maintenance at all. Smelly zoo and dirty. Bad thing happened. The deers jumped up to knock the rusty and old cage when I fed the deer. The rusty long iron bar dropped from the cage and hit my head. Got bruise! So unlucky. Not recommended. Weather was hot though in December.

Animals in small cages, lack of running/fresh water and lack of maintenance suggests skipping this one. Flies everywhere. Lovely vegetation and manicured gardens for guests strolling but mud pits, dark concrete enclosures and no trees or grass for animals. Lack of shade. Many empty cages. Did I mention the flies?

First of all, you will have a good experience if you decide to go. The zoo is cute, compact, not too crowded and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The animals seem to thrive as they are producing offspring.
What I find difficult to see is the cuddling of lion cubs that is allowed in the park. Not uncommon to Thailand and probably not dangerous for both parties, not a practice you see anywhere else in the world. If you are ok with that, please go as most animals are rescued or donated animals and the zoo is not a for profit organisation as such. My two cents...

Spent good time at the zoo. Overall the place is old and not so well maintain but seen many wild animals and they seems in good health. The place is not too busy and nice to walk around the park. Have seen lions, giraffes, monkeys, parrots, zebra and many more.
Car Park is close to entrance so don’t need to walk too much. Overall it’s ok but just a bit of renovations and better care of the area would make it more successful.

We had a some time to spare and no where to go so we visited the zoo. Some pretty cool animals despite it being small. We spent about 1 hr and 15 mins . There was a tram available for 50 baht. Otherwise walking is fine cuz it’s a small zoo. Kids will definitely be entertained here. Feeding was also available.

Although the grounds are pleasant and it is a nice walk around (700m) the zoo is pretty poor. Animals in a sorry state - the orangutang looked like he wanted to be put of his misery, just sitting there staring into space. The enclosures are all very small, bare concrete, with no greenery and nothing to stimulate the animals. The alligators had a tiny green puddle, the orangutang had nothing. Really poor for the animals. Tiny monkey cages, tiny bird cages, a rabbit in a cage that was barely bigger than itself. It's not like there is a lack of space to build something bigger - it's just a lack of compassion or care.
Then there's the animal feeding. Charging 50 baht for eight small slices of carrot is disgraceful. I would say you are getting about a third of a carrot. It's gone in an instant. And of course the kids want to feed all the animals: the horses, the sheep, the pigs, the giraffes etc. In the aviary a tiny packet of sunflower seeds is also 50 baht. It is just gouging the tourists and is really quite disgraceful.

is it safe for kids and adults? would the graffies eat the baby?
Written 13 October 2019
Hi, yes it is safe but still be cautious, my 3 yr. old daughter fed the giraffe although i constantly remind her to be careful 😊 they have sticks so no need to worry about the giraffe accidentally biting the child’s finger. If traveling with an infant, suggest to bring mosquito spray to prevent any possible insect bites. Best time to visit around December - January as the weather in khao Yai drop a bit during this season.
