We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here on a Summer Saturday with nice weather, it was obviously going to be very busy, so finding a place to park was a challenge. However after finding one the parking machine only accepts Euro coins (who carries these anymore? We had plenty of € cash with us but no coins) or an App which only works with home addresses in Austria, Germany and Sweden (?). It should also accept all major cards according to the explanation on the machine, but I tried all 5(!) of my Mastercards, Visa cards or debit cards from different banks, yet nothing happened. There’s only a few villages on the West side of the lake but all other roads end in the mountains. So after a frustrating hour or so driving around looking for parking we left. Apparently the Weißensee region only appreciates Austrian and German tourists who carry coins in large amounts.

We came across Weissensee by accident. It is considered by many Austrians to be a bit remote and underdeveloped. But many visitors will find both these attributes positive. It is far less overdeveloped than many Austrian lakes and is breathtakingly beautiful. Excellent for walking, swimming and chilling. Not so good if you want a vibrant nightlife. Come to Weissensee to relax and slow down.

The lake itself is quite nice. But the whole area reachable by car is taken by hotels and holiday home owners. Unless you are staying in one of those, which is very pricey, then you cannot really enjoy it. There are some open parts but these are full of water cane. Pity how all this private property ruined the place. Unless you are staying near the lake I would look elsewhere for some lake swimming and relaxing.

And rightly so. There is much to do around the Weissensee, not in the least the "Bergbahn" which offers a magnificent view over this body of water. But boat trips, boat tours, water sports, eating and drinking are all provided for. And in the winter, when the Weissensee is frozen over, the Dutch skating enthusiasts come over to ride the alternative "Elfstedentocht" (Eleven Cities Tour). This is a skating tour along eleven cities in Friesland, the Netherlands, which seldom can be organized, because of the clement winter weather. So the frozen over Weissensee is their alternative.

As a family of five, we spent several days swimming in Weissensee, in two different places. We went to the kiosk several times. There are lovely lawns right by the water. If you're hungry or thirsty, the kiosk is ideal. A small playground and a beach area for safe splashing around in the sand are ideal for children. The lawn is free and there are paid parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. The water is rocky and from 1.40m it's covered in algae and sticky on your feet. So you have to put your feet up and swim. There are lots of stand-up paddlers out and about, and you can rent boards at the kiosk (€15 for the first hour), but they usually don't get in the way when you're swimming. A pleasant stay.

The area is beautiful, the boat trip was good, now the big but

Swimming only for hotel guests, outdoor pool only for campers, private entrances, the only outdoor pool is on the east bank and cannot be reached from Teschendorf, it is a bottomless impudence to close the entrances, a disgrace for Carinthia, be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!!
