My cousin and I went to visit the salt mines. We must say that we very much enjoyed this visit. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour lasted around 1.5 hours. The The price for two people including the Ride up and down the...More

Nice little village by the lake. Plenty of beautiful houses. However, i do think that place is too crowded with tourist. No wonder they said it is the most photographed place in the world.

Best place to get that all exclusive shot is at either end of the village, capturing the village backdropped onto the lake with the mountains lurking behind. Such a delightful place, with many features that will wet the appetite. Parking does cost a little but...More

We visited Hallstatt under snow! and took gorgeous photos. If you are around you must definitely visit. Food was so limited and most of the restaurants were closed and reviews of the restaurants are not that great, but there are very good restaurants in Steeg,...More

We arrived by train. A boat from Hallstatt crosses the lake to pick up people from the train. Great place for a home base while exploring the area. Town is very quiet but has a lot of history and things to see from the Church...More

Very popular place but wonderful views and lovely walking area. Well worth a visit but avoid peak holiday times as just too many people. Dachstein scenic tours are incredible but not for anyone with vertigo!

A very nice place for photo taking. Go either very early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowd follow by a sunset dinner. A great way to end the night

We drove from Salzburg, the views were spectacular from the top, we visited both caves, Mammoth cave was actually more interesting because the guide spoke a better English and so we could understand why certain places were called what they were called and why the...More

The village is "not as nice" as what we had seen/read on the magazines/travel brochures pictures depicting this place. No doubt this is a nice village with nice sceneries but it is overrated. It is not that serene nor does it have that idyllic quaint...More

G'day There are several parking lots in the village, all rather expensive. Just look for the signs and you should have no problem finding a space. Cheers Mike

The Ice Cave is open from 29 April until 29 October 2017. I think it is closed now due to weather condition Yes, you need cable car to get there, no matter what.
