Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited the museum after a symposium on the beautiful beguinages in Belgium and the Netherlands. More cooperation would be fantastic for this unique heritage, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. What is new is that the Beguinage Church can also be visited during the museum's opening hours. Recommended!

We parked our car in a parking lot nearby and walked to the beguinage. It's large and very nice, one of the prettiest beguinages of Belgium I've been to. It's a very pleasant walk, especially early in the morning - it was quiet and we had the whole place to ourselves.

This is a walled complex which consists of a small church . Bascially this was founded in the 12 th century by Mr. Hendrick van breda. This is a complex which helped the small group of the pious catholic womens who wished to live their life in comtemplation & prayer in chastity . These are some 29 houses which are maintained for such group. The courtyard has beautiful herb garden & the museum includes includes a permanent exhibition of relics from the collection of Hamers IJsebrand and Harrie Hammers.

absolute silence and unique old buildings in the centre of the city. Walk around to feel the atmosphere of the 17e century.

The Beguines were a fascinating order, and this beguinage and museum is one of the best we have seen. The introductory video was fascinating, including interviews with beguines, The museum itself was also extremely good. Add to this the most helpful staff we have met in a long time, and you have an extremely good experience.

Very much a part of my youth, but still a unique and contemplative site with some very old religious monuments in a very local and almost timid style.

A Beguinage (Begijnhof) is always a hidden jewel. Beguines were "religious women", widows or spinsters who wished to live independent but commited life outside the recognised orders with their vows of fidelity and poverty. This beguinage is quite big. The location was used to be a castle domain. It is characterized by a gatehouse and elongated tree-lined square. Its Calvary chapels and Lourdes grotto reveals a lively and popular faith. The museum illustrates the beguinage culture. When we were there, some archaeology students were carried out the excavation in this site and they found the foundation of the church in the former location ( 13th century).
