I was stunned to see such a beautiful church so far away from the major cities. It was truly beautiful and well worth the detour. I can't really say how much it is worth the trip.

Worth the quick detour from the romantic road. Breathtaking ceiling paintings. Great in the winter with less tourits and more time to appreciate the beauty in silence

Church is located 30-minutes drive from Fussen or Neuschwanstein. Believe it is hard to reach without car because the church is in the middle of nowhere. Big paid parking. It is absolutely not possible to make a visit of the church during the church service....More

Took a detour to see this church and it was worth the effort. It is in a beautiful setting in an Alpine valley. The interior is very elaborately decorated in Rococo style and is very colourful. It was very busy but definitely worth seeing.

Wieskirche, a UNESCO World Heritage site, sits in the village of Wies. The grand baroque church in the foothills of the Alps is a must see. Built in the 1740s, the church's pale yellow and white exterior provide no hint of the glorious beauty inside....More

Unlike any other church I have been to. Wies is a rococo masterpiece. It’s unassuming exterior would not lead you to believe that such ornate beauty lies within. A must do in Bavaria!!

If you’re staying in Fussen and have the Fussen Card from your hotel or B&B, it’s free to get the bus here to see this beautiful church. When I was there they were having a concert. It sits in this meadow and feels like it...More

Such a wonderful place. Hard to imagine that the Church dates to the 1740’s. This is probably the most beautiful cathedral we have seen. Others are more renowned, but if you enjoy cathedral visits, this one must be at the top.

Many thousands of details in the elaborate paintings and stucco figures. I was so taken with this church and with too little time to take it all in that I bought the illustrated guide book and am glad that I did.

This magnificent oval rococo church was designed in the late 1740s by Dominikus Zimmermann. It is wonderful to behold the interior. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1983.

Like a few others, I too had rented a car for the sole purpose of being able to take side trips like this during our planned stops (In this case our drive from Fussen to Salzburg). With that said, I do believe that there is... More
