This Rococo style cathedral is beautifully light & airy inside (unlike some others in this style), with phenomenal frescoes and intricate carvings. Mass is very well-attended, though you cannot take photos during the service (without flash, they are allowed when it is over). The church is still a pilgrimage site where many come to petition before the weeping Scourged Savior... More

I went on a Sunday and arrived just after services. When I went in there was a no photography sign. I wandered around and looked at the church for a while but, since I couldn't take any photos, I was soon ready to leave. On my way out I realized the sign I had seen was gone. I went back... More

As part of a day trip from Munich, I hadn't heard of Wies Church prior to walking up to it. While clean and elegant outside, we'd been tipped off to be prepared for the amazing interior. Bright and airy, glinting in the afternoon sun streaming through the windows, it was really quite beautiful, even for a non-church person like me.... More

I have been in this church numerous times, including for a mass so I could hear the organ and acoustics. One of the most unusual churches since it broadly displays Christ's torture and suffering. Instead of the normal cross or crucifix, there is a famous carved statue of Christ being scourged. It is a pilgrimage church, esp for those who... More

So ornate on the inside. Rococo at its best. We were lucky to have it to ourselves coming in January. If you have the time, it's worth a visit.

While traveling to Linderhof we stopped at Wieskirche. My family and I were pleasantly surprised by this gem in the middle of the meadow. The visit probably takes 30 minutes and definitely worth it. The rococo style church and the story behind the church are a must see. I believe this is on the UNESCO list.

This is so stunning inside with the paintings and architecture. People come from all over the World and though this is slightly off the beaten track it is easily accessible and the scenery is stunning too.

This is one of the most beautiful Rococo style churches I have seen, absolutely stunning. There was a service going on when we stopped and frankly photographs are not supposed to be taken but I could not help myself! There are restrooms right at the parking area where the gift shop is make sure you have .50 Euro to use... More

While travelling the Romantic Road on our way to Schwangau and the castles, we did a short deviation from the main highway to Wieskirche. A must see. The rococo style, frescoes, beautiful artwork and pleasant vista make this a very worthwhile side trip. The church is not always open for viewing due to services, and I would suggest checking on-line... More

This church is a spectacularly beautiful. We enjoyed the beautiful drive, and our visit included freshly made cinnamon sugar "doughnut" hot and delicious.
