The views of the Bode Valley are totally stunning and it has some interesting things there. I think I will come again on Spring to enjoy it more, some places were closed.

Great views from the top of Hexentanzplatz but what I really enjoyed was the hike up the mountain. Quite a lot of activities on the top but some places were closed. Think mid summer is the best time to visit but there'll be a lot of tourist. I think it's better if you read up a bit about the Pagan... More

Many activities on the Hexentanzplatz and also in the valley below around the village of Thale. Kids will love the activity park at the cable car station in Thale.

The famous Hexentanzplatz does offer a beautiful view but only after you have made your way past loads of souvenir stands and other kitsch.

Once it is OK, but we won't be back ... Pros: @ Nice ride up with the inexpensive and beautiful gondola @ Funky witch statues & upside down house @ Fun "rodelbahn" nearby @ Free parking and a fun amusement park in the valley (at the bottom of the gondola) Cons: @ Everything closes at 6 pm! Even at 5:30... More

We were expecting a natural environment deep in the woods but was amazed how commercialized the place was! Thought we'd have a nice visit but it turned out to be stressful with all kinds of kids running around, cheap trinkets made in China and long lines for the lifts and the bob sled. Everything costs!! So we abruptly turned around... More

What can I say, this place is a must for visitors to the Harz. There is something for everyone regardless of age. Views are spectacular, attractions are worth a visit, from the bob bahn to the kids park to the small zoo tucked away in the forest. Top tip, park at the bottom of the valley (Gebuhrenfrei parkplatz in the... More

Yes there are - zoo, rodeln bahn, which house, scary house, funicular, and they all cost money. Plus even parking. Want to just look on the valley view, turn left before entering parking (exit road) and check free spots long the road. For fully enjoyable experience - be there in nice and sunny weather, it is quite windy place and... More

Birthplace of Witches! It is nicely done on the top of the mountain. Lots of small shops with souvenirs, eateries and toilets. In a winter not much to do but in the summer can be an excellent day out with family. Parking place not free.
