Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The caves are certainly suggestive, important to know for those who suffer from vertigo to avoid.
The temperature inside is cool for children. There is no need to bring at least a long-sleeved t-shirt for adults.
The tour takes place in a short time as once you get down the route is short, the cave has no water so its process is stopped, too bad!
Once you have finished the tour, traveling 10 minutes by car, you can visit the Archaeological Museum in Dogali, already included in the ticket (caves+museum=10 euros).

We decided not to take the boat to the grotto, but went by car to the starting point to walk from there the over 600 steps to the grotto. Unfortunately, we did not know that you have to reserve a start time in advance. Arrived we could not enter the grotto at 11:00, but then booked a viewing for 17:00 on the same day. The grotto is very beautiful and worth its admission!

This cave extends into a single large room, 50 meters deep and with about 250 steps to do both to go down and then to go up, but still they are quite easy and suitable for all ages.
The Guide is very competent, nice and manages to entertain well throughout the visit which lasts about forty minutes. He explained that this cave is now "fossil", which means that it no longer creates stalactites or stalagmites because it is dry. You can still admire the largest stalagmite in Europe. Overall a nice visit and if you are around is you want to spend an hour, I recommend it!

You can get there easily, there is free parking a few dozen meters from the entrance of the cave (in high season they will probably be occupied already in the morning), you have to walk a slightly challenging staircase, at the entrance to buy the ticket and you access time slots with the Guide.

The Guide from a few initial hints then leaves the group free to continue the route, total duration about 40 minutes.

Too bad they did not provide a chemical bath outside, a sebac would have been welcome, the Guide recommends close contact with nature... too bad that not all people have an easy time doing it bending over a sloping area.

If there is anything that Cala Gonone is known for it is the water, the beaches and it's many caves. Limestone is a predominant rock that makes up the landascape and with erosion, water and natural earth movements, comes the birth of these natural formations. It does not take long to see the place. It is better to just drive up there than fo with a tour company as it comes out very reasonable in prices which comes down to 8 euros. Dont forget to visit the nearby restaurant and enjoy their offereings

Small cave with only one room but 50 meters deep, 250 steps but not difficult suitable for children, only shame that due to the scarcity of rains has become fossil but with the highest stalagmite in Europe. The visit lasts about 45 minutes with entrances every hour, friendly and very competent Guide. If you are in the area I Recommendation to visit it.

We experienced a ca. 45min tour (offered each hour) through the cave. You are going down a metal and concrete stairs and can already see the absolutely impressive cave. The guide gave some interesting information about the formation. Definitely a must go!

We were in the grotto with our two children (8 and 7 years old). There is only one tour per hour, we chose the first tour at 10am. It was still very quiet then, but from 11am it got really busy.
The hall, which is around 50m deep, is very impressive. Our guide explained everything to us very well, highly recommended.

Beautiful cave, the tour lasts about 45 minutes and the entrance in August is at any time, when you enter you are left speechless by the immensity of the stalactites and stalagmites. For those who like height it is impressive. It is recommended to bring a t-shirt.
