Tremendous and amazing site. Not to be missed. These rocks are thousands of years old! Some with carvings, some fallen over.

Small. Enterence fee gives access to information on this historic site and only Avery short drive from the coast. Open most days . Not many visitors at one time there when we were and it was a beautiful day so you see the surrounding countryside which was very peaceful.

This ancient monument is a way off the main road but is well signed. The burial mounds are very unusual in form but incredibly well preserved. If you want something that little bit different this is the place.

Easy to find, typing in Acalar Center into your navigation system and you will be at meters of the little entrance parking. I was the only one visitor around lunch time (Btw the site is actually opened during lunch time, from 10h30 non stop to 17h00). Unfortunately it's impossible to enter if you are not a midget. I was there... More

I passed by the " Monumentos Megaliticas de Alcalar" very often. This time I had some extra time and visited this pre-historic site with tombs. I was not disappointed. At the ticket-office you can get all the information you need to understand what you see at the site. A 20 minute tour for small money. Don't pass by as I... More

Very much worth the drive from EN125 road just west of Portimão. You will be surprised by how well preserved these ancient tombs are. Most of all, it is great to imagine people living in this area 5,000 years ago. Most of us are here on holiday but these people lived here for the agriculture, fish and mollusks and the... More

If you visited the canning museum in downtown Portimao, visiting this site completes the story. It is incredible to see what humans were capable of so many years ago, with minimal tools and no electricity. The site is not expensive, nor will it take long to see it. If you are passing nearby, definitely go but don't go far out... More

Easy to find...just follow the exit off the N125 near Alvor...and make sure not to go during the lunch period when it is closed. Very interesting, historically, at the monument sites, and definitely go into the main building and read more about the site. Inexpensive, but also a senior discount.

After a short, poor quality televised intro in the reception area you walk 100mtrs to the site. You will find a burial chamber that is inaccessible to 90% of people due to its narrow entrance, also the remains of a Kiln that take a bit of working out. Info on how the ancients lived is very scarce. Needs a good... More
