We parked in the village of Alaro and started our hike from there. Allow yourself a minimum of 2 hours up and 2 hours back for this hike. There are some amazing views both on the way up to the castell and when you get...More

We have done this walk several times. We park on the outskirts of Alaro town and walk from there. We usually ser off early between 8 to 9am. It’s mainly uphill going (mainly following the rough road with the odd cut through) and will take...More

We started the hike from Orient and parked at the L'Hermitage hotel parking (3min walk). The route is beautiful! There are lots of old olive trees, sheep and even goats! It is important to bring water, eventually a small snack and wear sturdy shoes (...More

Take the steep, bumpy, potholed, zig-zag track from Alaro (first gear for 10minutes) up to the car park at Es Verger. From Es Verger, there are two ways to the castle, either back down the track until a footpath on the left (GR221) after 200Metres...More

Such stunning views, honestly breath taking. We read the other reviews and as we had a small sports car opted to take he trail from Orient rather than Alaró. If we had started earlier in the day Alaró would have been a fine choice. We...More

It's worth the drive and walk to take in the view......just fabulous! You can park at Es Verger or walk from Alaro centre if you really want to earn your lunch. Drive is on single track road that's quite pot holed but take it steady...More

I enjoyed the walk, it is doable with very small children, just take it slow :-) My parents loved the local berried "madroños" which they couldn't stop eating along the way.

Stunning views from the top of the castle with a sheer drop on the far side at the cliff face! Not much room on the track getting up there with the car but well worth the effort. Some great walks up to the castle as...More

Amazing what some people will put on their feet for a semi-serious hike up to the top of a mountain. Another tip, let the delivery vans pass on the 1.5 track road up to the restaurant otherwise they'll ride your butt the whole way. After...More
