We were there fortunately in December. The "adventure" starts already with the drive to the starting point the sheep farm. Shift down to the first gear although it is a rental car because the road is in a condition that you assume you are on the wrong way. The view during the ride up the mountain is incredible and due... We had a great morning hike to the castle followed by lunch back down at Es Verger. We drove the restaurant on the hair-raising switchbacks to the restaurant, then hiked the rest of the way to the castle. I was a bit embarrassed to have driven any of it in retrospect. Should have walked from town.

The other reviewers are right - it's a curving, narrow drive up to the Restaurante Es Verger, where they don't seem to mind if you park, and then an hour's walk up to the castle, but (if you are wearing good boots) the experience is phenomenal. Pack snacks, pack WATER, and remember that the restaurant doesn't take credit cards (you'll... More

As walks go it's ok, but there are many better on the island and there's not much to see of the castle.

Walked to the Castell from Alaro with a stop en-route for a beer at Es Verger! The view from the summit is beautiful

I've given this 5 stars simply for the views as the trip to the castle without the views wouldn't in my opinion, be worth it as there's not much of it left really. We drove to the car park at Es Verger (the famous restaurant) which was the first challenge as it was potholed and twisty, and scary when we... More

Climbed up from the Restaurent "es verger' car park . Book in advance if your planning lunch The smell of The Roasting lamb will drive you insane if you dont...The climb is medium but with the Sun beating down its harder than one might think.. we did it to the summit and cafe in about 100 minutes and that was... Visited again this place and hiked up. It was May so not too hot assume in summer time you must be early. On top a small hostel which serves coffee and some other beverages. The hike is realy rewarding, the views are magnificent. When we visited it wasn't so crowded.

Not very strenous but with over 33 degres, it was quite a tough one. However I would recommend this to anyone. The views from up there are unbelievable!

It may be beautiful but we could not get up the road in our car. Not only is it a curvy narrow road with drop offs on the side, but it is also filled with huge pot holes the entire way up. Unless you plan on parking In town and making the 4 hour round trip hike, I would recommend... More
