Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The monumental cemetery of the 15th century/Cementerio Monumental is located behind a stone fence. Above the central entrance rises a statue of an angel who guards the peace of the deceased several generations of townspeople and noble people.
The gathering place overlooks the fishing town and is also one of its attractions.

I love an old churchyard and whilst walking along the coast , we spotted the spectacular white angel statue and I had to visit. Its so interesting to walk around and read all the family gravestones and look at the beautiful statues.
Doesn't take long to walk around but really interesting

It's a beautiful cementery, especially with the angel there to guard it.

Called her while passing to look at the 'gothic monument' as described on the road sign, we thought we might find an old house/church etc - but what we did find was this cemetery!! A lot of large family tombs to look at and also rows upon rows of burial chambers stacked maybe as many as 5 high. Never seen anything like it before!!

Haven't really visited many cemeteries as I try to avoid them! However this one was quite atmospheric and architectural. On a dark night with the Angel hovering above could be pretty scary...

The cemetery was built on Gothic ruins (the old village church, I believe) which gives it quite a haunting air. The graves are quite touchingly well-tended as obviously it is still in use. As you drive into Comillas it makes an impressive sight as it's on a hill overlooking the town. Beautiful, especially with the angel and wrought-iron gates.

Impressive white angel is guarding from the East corner the entire cemetery. You can admire the statue from all the view points around Comillas.

From the Capricho de Gaudi to the Palacio de Sobrellanos to round out your architectural afternoon, have a slow walk to the Cementerio gates. The iron work is interesting even if the cemetery is closed. The views just a bit further are fabulous! A gem!
