Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An amazing experience, surely one of the biggest train sets in the world, great for adults and chidren alike with Two loops of track, two routes each about 20mins long, 7 miniature (roughly 1/8th actual size) locos in steam. Everything is built substantially and to last. The main station had around 6 platforms, four in use during our visit. Intensive service schedule with rains moving all around the site at all time. Everything clean and tidy. Volunteers knowledgeable, interesting and helpful. Toilets clean and tidy. Cafe simple with teas and coffees, cakes and limited hot food (sausage rolls and Bacon/sausage baps), but reasonably priced. Cafe has viewing point outside opposite the main sheds, so a great place for watching the trains. We will definitely go back

I went here with a friend, unfortunately I didn't have the kids with me, they would have loved it! Lovely train and really friendly staff. There were two different routes, and there were different things to see along the way. I wouldn't come here alone again however I'll be returning with the children. A proper working mini steam train, we had a lovely experience

Excellent place to spend 2 hours with two adults and young children.
The only negative is the very limited options at the cafe, sweets, cakes etc, and it’s not really disabled friendly

Lovely place to go for a few hours, great little trains which take you around a good sized track with pretty surroundings.
Nice little snack bar for something to eat and drink, area to sit, and free parking.
Great for kids and adults alike.

What a great railway, the staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. My friend and I have never visited before, we got a really good welcome form one member of staff who on noticing we worked for a Heritage Railway got a great tour of the loco sheds and a ride before it opened to the public which was great. After this we bought ticket for another ride and bought on for the trip we had.

The track layout is great, it’s a good 10 minute ride which is well worth the ticket price, will highly recommend friends to visit this railway, a true hidden gem.

Thank you for your review. It's always good to meet people from other steam railways, big or small, and to chat to fellow enthusiasts. We're pleased you enjoyed your visit. Tell all your mates!! Best regards Mike GCR

Hi Steve, Thank you for your review. We are pleased that the 2nd generation of your family like visiting us as much as you! It's always nice when we get visitors who say " I used to bring my children here and I'm back with my grandchildren," or " I remember coming here as a child and I've been waiting till my own are old enough." It must mean we are doing something right!

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon here with our 3-year-old. The whole set up is very friendly and full of volunteers. We travelled on both routes and waited no longer than 4 or 5 minutes for each on a sunny and busy Sunday afternoon. There is a little café where you can buy food and drinks, but we did not use it as had just popped over from living very locally. I think there were toilets if required too and plenty of parking. Both routes take about 15 minutes each which is surprisingly long. It is very child friendly and was a lovely afternoon out for our family that we will aim to repeat soon.
