So Good We Tasted Twice
Sep 2019
If you like NZ wines and French technique - you'll love this place. We actually came back on the same trip to taste and buy. We were able to meet the winemaker and one of the owners. They gave me some great technical information. Our favorite of the Cromwell area.

Passionate owners - great wine
Mar 2020
This is a lovely well established family owned vineyard with some lovely organic wines, and other local products - definitely worth calling in to if cruising the vineyards, or just passing through.

Full Body Pinot Noir, worth a visit!

Aurum Wines

On our way back from Wanaka, we dropped in to this boutique winery at Lowburn off the SH6. My wife was particularly interested in their Pinot Noir. Their “Madeline”line was really great, smooth with an fruity after taste. (I didn’t drink, I was the driver.) She was so impressed that after the wine tasting, we purchased 2 bottles ($88 NZ each). The owner Tony packed the wine in bubble wrap for us to fly home in the luggage.

Lovely wine tasting. Particularly liked their Pinot Gris and Pinot noir. They have a very good port too.

Three sisters and I visited as part of the 4 Barrels Wine Tasting self-guided walk.
We were served by the owner Tony, who was very friendly and informative.
Lovely wines, two of us especially enjoyed the Amber wine.

A definite must-stop site!

Aurum's organic wine range is just fabulous, and well worth stopping for a tasting. The gardens surrounding the winery are lovely, and Joan is a very charming host. Join the Wine Club for 4 cases a year, and a decent discount, and that's a great way of keeping in touch with new release.

Nice but without much enthusiasm
Feb 2019 • Couples
Part of the walking wine tour. Nice wines but the enthusiasm of other wineries was lacking for me. Not enough information about products and techniques.

Pretty average
Dec 2018
Aurum has some good wines. However, there were a couple of real head scratching issues.

The service was minimally engaging. I felt like our group was something to work through, not engage. There had been other stops where I felt like I was treated like a special guest. Not so much here.

A pet dog (of the winery) had pooped inside the tasting room area. One of my group stepped in it, making the whole experience doubly uncomfortable.

Fabulous Wines
Oct 2018 • Friends
We came to this vineyard as part of the 4 Barrels Wine Trail, and although the 5 wines we tried were delightful we did find this experience a little awkward. The lady who served our wine didn't really engage too much in conversation and we felt we had to ask a lot of questions just to get one worded answers, although she did warm up eventually.

She was lovely, just a little awkward!
