Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely little church, which like many towns and buildings in this part of France has it's own D-Day story, which makes it interesting. Make sure to read the information provided at the information point. Also look at the beautiful glass stained windows. If you are on your way to Utah beach and pass through Sainte Marie du Mont pay this lovely church a well deserved visit

Church has a interesting history in WW2.

Felt more could have been made of it, although they did have some photos with a little detail around it.

The main reason to go here is of course if you are a WW2 buff. The church is interesting to see. Go inside it's nice (and free). The town (shops and cafe) around the church square are cute. You can see everything in about 20 minutes but still worth a look and you can buy souvenirs, lunch, ice cream. There is a nice bakery just off the main square which sells good sandwiches and pastries. The other reason to go to Sainte Marie Eglise is the Airbourne Museum which is amazing.

I remember the movie the longest day in which the paratrooper was caught up on the top of the church. Here they have a dummy hanging up there to represent that. The stain glass windows are beautiful and re-done to commemorate the paratroopers liberating the town.

When visiting this, be sure to check out the stained glass windows, many of which were damaged and replaced after WWII. These beautifully commemorate the soldiers, sailors, and airmen involved in World War II.

A portion of DDay I was not familiar with before our visit. This church was at the center of the initial airborne landing pre-dawn. So much history to take in when you hear all the stories. You must look at the stain glass windows that commemorate this event and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Truly spectacular.

The atmosphere in this church is tangible. Please visit and pay your respects. I call in every year without fail its like a pilgrimage for me. The US camp around the church also adds to the occasion.

I liked this church. It's very old, from around he 11th century so be sure to take a few minutes to see it when touring the D-day beaches.
