Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The numerous positive reviews highlight just how wonderful this place is. Here are a few tips to enhance your visit:

When you arrive, make sure to start with the "immersive" film presentation. You'll move through three different "rooms," and the film is available in several languages, so choose a time that suits your preference.

As the film concludes, glass doors open to reveal the pile houses. You can then explore the walkways that connect the houses, offering a glimpse into the lives of the inhabitants.

A word of caution: it’s best to visit during dry weather. The walkways can become slippery, and the rails may not prevent young children from falling into the water.

Highly recommended!

Lovely reconstructed Bronze age village, no doubt about that. The entry price was too much, with no family deal? Disappointing.

Definitely exceeded our expectations. This is a re-creation (using many, (maybe entirely?) original artifacts found archaeologically in the area) of village life in the stone age and bronze age. Going through the exhibits you get a real education and awareness of what life was like in those eras. For German-speakers, there are free guided tours. But even as non-German speakers, this was the most interesting and memorable sight of our visit to the Bodensee.

We were a bit nervous having read the reviews saying ‘No English description’, but we’re very happy to pay the €3 for a really good and comprehensive English guide which told us everything we needed to know. We were greeted by very friendly staff who told us about the guide. Only a couple of the films and exhibits were not translated, but this did not spoil things. Although the German-speaking visitors went round in a guided group, it was easy enough to dodge this so you could go at your own pace. Beautiful location in a quiet, pleasant town. We took the bus from Hagnau to get there to avoid parking hassles, our campsite provided a free Echt Bodensee bus card, very easy

The museum was nice - if you know a lot of Deutsch. Only a few info posters were translated into english. We were not given a map as promised but that was not a problem.

Thank you for your opinion! We understand your criticism, but allow us to point out that there are only a few German museums with (some) English texts. And the Pfahlbauten Unteruhldingen are a German museum, that is to say an essentially German-speaking museum. Conversely, almost no English/British/American/Australian museum offers texts in German. In addition, all our central information boards are written in German, English and French. You can also buy a short guide in English at the entrance for only €3. We also offer special foreign language tours. You are welcome to learn more about them on our webpage. Sincerely, Pfahlbauten Unteruhldingen

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-see. It is also worth a long journey to visit this reconstructed stone-age pile village. Not only from the outside the huts are worth seeing, also the interior was lovingly designed, so that one can imagine the life at that time well. Unfortunately it is not allowed to take pictures of the interior of the huts.

Due to Corona rules there is currently only a predetermined circular route, and the usual distance to other visitors must be maintained.

Great place with amazing reconstructions of 6000 years old stoneage houses. Very friendly staff, really engaging into dialog. One of the places you must visit if you are visiting lake Constance.

We visited the museum and were very impressed with the multimedia introduction and the friendly and informative description of the various buildings. All of the content was very interesting and the museum makes for a very nice stop in the Lake Constance area. Any family should definitely take the time to visit this little gem.

It is worth visiting and getting to know the life of the people of that time. an extremely interesting history lesson told interestingly by the guide.

Sometimes shows are organized, e.g. the last time I was, the gentleman showed how to light a fire and how to build a house.
