A relatively small collection but one of the more imaginatively curated museums of archaeology. The displays are thoughtfully conceived and laid out and the information boards are clear and fascinating. I found the items on the upper (second) floor most interesting which include some impressive...More

Samos is a small island and Pythagorion a small town, but the archeological museum is very good. The island is like one big archeological site so they have a lot of material to work with. The indoor displays are very well designed, smaller artefacts on...More

A must of the 3 museums on the Island that I would recommend. Opened in the last decade it has a perfect glimpse of the advanced Samians and there lives from 3000 years ago. For the history buff you will enjoy this as well as...More

A very modern museum, that provides information not only for the history of the island, but for the ancient Greece in general also. If you are a museum lover, you will find it particularly interesting.

Nice place to visit as a break from sun bathing. Lots of interesting items well presented in a modern building with ruins of Samos city outside. 6 euros to get in. Open from 9am until 4pm. Closed on Mondays. Enjoy

In all of the museums I have visited in Greece over the past 8 years this museum is one of the finest. Everything about this museum is about quality—of materials and of artifacts. Throughout the museum stainless steel, thick clear plexiglass, marble and other natural...More

Perhaps no museum has the size and quality of the collections at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. But this one is superior in interpretation of their noteworthy collections. Actually there are lots of objects of art as well as those of everyday use that...More

Relatively new, it is very organized and with very good pieces. However, be mindful of the opening time. In March, it was open from 8 to 2 pm.
