Being with a large group of artists, Lucchio was one of the highlights of a stellar retreat in Tuscany. Just everywhere you look there are outstanding vistas and fascinating 'street' scenes. The clamber up to La Rocca is worthwhile, being able to have the full...More

Peaceful walk through a sleepy village to the castle ruins at the top of the hill with views for miles around. Lots of cats.

Drive up and down is narrow, with places with few passing points, and quite dramatic drops in places. Village is car free so park up at road end. Village is not deserted but quite thriving with people around and the small cafe/bar open, perhaps it...More

Had fun driving up the mountain. Park just before you arrive in town, or in our case at the cemetery a bit down since the parking was full. We managed to climb La Rocca with a 2 and a 5 year old. Coming down was...More

Driving to Lucchio wasn't so bad. You walk to the rocca. It was fun climbing and taking pictures of isolated homes and the scenery. Many cats around. We only saw two ladies in the whole town.

This was the highlight of our trip to Tuscany and the perfect antidote to the crowds of Florence. We spotted some houses clinging to a cliff face high on a mountain top. So we decided to investigate. Looking up at them it was hard to...More

We drove past the road to Lucchio just by chance and decided to head up the mountain. We parked our car below Lucchio because of the narrow, winding roads, and hiked up to the village. It was in early may, the village was almost completely...More

We drove to Lucchio from Bagni di Lucca. We didn't have a great map but knew to turn at the quarry. You just follow the road up and up which is quite narrow in places with tight turns. You can catch glimpses of the town...More

The owner of the B&B at Santa Maria del Giudice recommended that we visit Lucchio. It was clear from the squiggle of a road that it would be up a hill, but as the road snaked and hairpinned its way upwards we soon realised we...More
