Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful and imposing building but with graceful shapes that can be appreciated especially in the internal courtyard, which is unmissable. The visit is very beautiful, limited and punctuated by the audio guide which makes everything a bit cumbersome. Evidently it is the best way to get more people accessed, even if I would prefer freer access.

Palazzo Ammannati is one of some palaces located in Piazza Pio II (the main square) in the old town of Pienza, a Renaissance town in Tuscany Region, in the center of Italy. It has a Renaissance facade and you can see it, if you walk around the old town and arrive to the main square. Nice, especially with all other important buildings in the square: Duomo (Cathedral), Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall), Palazzo Piccolomini and Palazzo Vescovile).

We visited this museum which was included in the ticket which also included the diocesan museum and the labyrinth under the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
The guided tour of the museum is well organized and shows everything contained inside in a very comprehensive way.
The numerous remains are well preserved and it is really worth going to see

When visiting Pienza I definitely recommend the visit to Palazzo Piccolomini. Visits with audio guide, and this is certainly interesting, but the nice thing is that you can also use it outside by listening to explanations about the cathedral and the surrounding buildings.
The views from the terrace and hanging gardens are also very beautiful.

The palace was built by Pope Pius II in the 15th century, and is one of the first examples of Renaissance architecture. It can only be entered with a half-hour guided tour. You can't take pictures inside, but the tour is very interesting and there is a lot to see. Entrance to the small garden is free.

Wonderful building and beautiful visit of the interior. The visit, lasting half an hour, takes place only with the guide who introduces us to each room. Unfortunately explanations are given only through the audio guide. It would certainly be more interesting to have a visit directly with the guide. Being a private palace, it is forbidden to take pictures. The garden with a beautiful panorama is worth it.

1. You cannot visit by yourself. You must pay for a "guided tour". The "guided tour" is not a guided one, it is an accompanied tour.
2. You are given an audio guide machine. The human guide will tell you which button to press in each room.
3. You are not allowed to take photo inside the palace. The palace is not so interesting anyway.
4. You are only allowed to take photos outside in the garden.
5. The garden's view is exactly the same view as when you drive on the road on the same side, literally the same mountain view, just added the garden.
6. The tour takes place every 30 mins. If you have to wait 30 mins, just skip it and drive around the road, you will get great photos with this 30 mins time.

We did not take a tour of the palace after reading the reviews of it on TA. However, when walking around the town, we saw the marvelous gardens and just ventured in. It was very early in the morning and no one stopped us. We did not know it was part of the palace until we left.

The gardens themselves and the views of the surrounding countryside were just outstanding.

I would highly recommend coming here to see the view. If you have to pay, just stay on the path outside the gardens and walk along. Don’t pay just to see the gardens.

50 yrs ago Franco Zeffirelli filmed some of Romeo and Juliet at this beautiful historical spot previously occupied by several popes and the wealthy of fascinating Pienza.

The tour is worthwhile, the Palazzo has quite a history and is extremely well maintained.

The charmless guide we had really only shepherded us from room to room while we listened on a radio (multiple languages available).

The gift shop is great Overall well worth a visit.
