Nice town to take a walk

The centre of Praia da Vitoria is not that fancy, but it will give a nice view of the local culture.

Praia da Vitoria is just a 5 minute drive from the airport. It offers a taste of Europe with charming shops, romance of cobblestone streets, colorful churches and peaceful city squares which is larger than the one in Angra and feels a bit more like...More

Very quiet and sleepy town, if not for the roar of the engines of the planes flying over. A couple of nice details but no real memorable items to stand the test of time.

While there aren't any standout sites, this is still a nice place to walk around. There are several streets where cars are banned. There are a few nice shops, and some good cafe restaurants. This is a nice break from the rest of the modern...More

Attractive HIgh Street with mosaics on roads and pavements. Good selection of shops selling local goods and produce, market place has cafe and home grown foods. Plenty of choice for food and drink. It doesn't take long, maybe an hour or two, to wander round....More

We’ve visited twice now from our cruise ship stopping here. It’s a quaint place; cobbled streets (which can be slippery if wet); small shops and a number of small cafe or restaurants. People very friendly and amazingly good value.

We loved seeing all of the old architecture. It was a lovely area. We enjoyed being there several times while on our trip.

the most memorable building is the 16th century town hall, a superb survivor of the 1980 quake in a nice plaza surrounded by cobbled streets

The second main center of Terceira is a bit less hilly then Angra (at least in the center), which makes it easier to walk around and just enjoy. Also there is a "route of poets" where you can see Azulejos with portraits of portuguese poets...More

If you want more than the beach then venture into the town, there are some lovely old streets to wander around, cafes, and shops.

I am not sure but maybe if you are arriving by cruise ship the shops may open. We were there on a Monday so what shops there are were open.. It's a very quiet place and Sunday's are still religious days on the island.
