What a beautiful walk with some breath taking views. Don’t forget to take a good pair of shoes though. Those rocks are sharp and pointy on your way back down. It’s an easy walk to do with kids.

Wonderful walk uphill taking about 40 minutes. On arrival the views are outstanding across the bay towards the Medas islands and to the south along the coast.

Worth the effort! Not an easy hike even though I exercise daily. I agree with the other reviewers who suggest good shoes or hiking boots, a hat and extra water. But the castle and view at the top are worth the effort. Just lovely. But...More

I had great fun with my 4 & 10yr olds climbing to the Cassel de Montgrí, but it did take us four hours to get up and back! As you get higher the track is very rocky and quite uneven, making it hard going for...More

Let's be honest my wife went right up to the castle and said it was worth the climb, I insisted that the plants growing on the hillside needed looking at so I only went halfway up!

So as you drive through the province of Girona, Spain you'll be able to see this distant castle on a high hilltop from almost anywhere you go. It's Montgri Castle and it will certainly arouse your curiosity. The hike is strenuous but not very long....More
