Never mind bird watching, go to the Janet Kear hide and count the number of Rats under the feeders,at least two dozen on my last visit!!!
Management leaves a lot to be desired, very poor.

Great Fun
Aug 2021
What a great place this is, value for a family entry was great and the kids enjoyed feeding the ducks with feed provided at a small surcharge.

The highlight was the canoe we hired £9 a boat for an hour was the best fun the kids had all day, so much fun and a new experience for them.

Even the gift shop wasn't too much of a rip off (which is unusual for this type of place)

We would definitely go again.

Fab day out for all the family
Jul 2021
This was our second visit and every bit as good as our first. The place is so picturesque and there’s so much to see. The walks to the various hideouts are great and the kids will love the rock pooling activity that you can do. At around £35 for a family ticket it’s great value as you can easily spend a whole day here. My only criticism is the price of refreshments - £12 for 4 Magnum ice creams! Other than that I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Nice place to take children to explore, play and learn.
Aug 2021
A very enjoyable 2 hours spent wondering around the vast site looking at the birds. Had taken my 5 year old who really enjoyed the boating and the wooden play area. Only complaint was the main slide was impossible for most under 6 year olds to climb up the rope ladder tube so we were left with a sulky child for a while. The flamingoes and the otter show are great and the shop a nice place to find a little gift at the end. The wigwams were great fun for the children to play in and around and enough to occupy at different points on the way around.

A very good 3 hours!

We really liked Martin Mere. A pleasant walk around the site, with lots to see. Hides are well maintained with good explanation and identification boards. Staff did seem a bit harrassed but I wonder if there was training going on? Well worth a visit. Beware the shop, there are some lovely but expensive things in there!!

Great day out
Jul 2021
Had a day out here with our 2 granddaughter aged 5 and 3. All grandparents/parent know if the kids love it, you'll love it. We had an excellent time. the granddaughters love the birds/ducks/geese etc were walking around and they could almost touch them. We had feed for the birds and they loved it when the ducks fed from their hands, We took a picnic with us and had it in the shade by the canoe / electric boat station. They wanted a boat ride, it was "captained" by Alan who gave us a 45 min informative tour along the canals. Unfortunately we didn't allow enough time for the park. After 3 hours we had to leave, we could of easily spent another 2 hours there. Saying that we will return.

Thoroughly enjoyable

This was our first visit but we certainly hope to return to experience bird watching in another season. We especially enjoyed our boat trip with Alan, who was an absolute mine of information. In fact, this was the highlight of our visit. Thank you.

More like a zoo than a natural environment.
Jun 2021
We have lived in Southport since 2011 but never visited Martin Mere, thinking it too expensive. It was my 81st birthday & we pre booked a visit with our eldest daughter. I bought a mobility for the occasion as I can't walk far. The area was composed of set pieces like an open air zoo which being a photographer was not what I wanted. There was another area which I believe was more akin to what I wanted, but it looked like there were no set paths. We eat in the cafe & all had fish & chips, the best but most expensive I've had.
