Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited August with family, including two young children. Despite school holidays, we didn't wait long for a ride on the miniature train - it's not a long ride, but there's nothing stopping you from joining the queue again for a second go. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they're all volunteers whose passion for the railway shows through. There's no charge for the train, they just ask for a donation.
The picnic area looked inviting, but it we hadn't planned to eat there. The only thing to be aware of is that there are no public toilets as there's no mains water to the site.
Overall a lovely, quirky hour or so in beautiful surroundings. Would recommend it.

Would definitely recommend this place. It was great to see retired engineers, model engineers and train enthusiastic including a teenager all working together to make this place possible. They are all volunteers who give up their time to maintain and run this little attraction.
During covid break they have been busy on the maintenance, tracks, site clean and things like painting fences. Might seem like nothing but it adds to the ambience and makes it a safe place. Absolutely great activity for young children and has reasonably good space wheelchair users to access (but no train rides of course).
The railway doesn't make a charge for the rides suggesting a donation of a mere £1per person. This makes it very affordable summer activity and there's a lovely big grassy picnic area for children to run around and play after.
On the day we visited they had 3 engines running. We arrived early and they were still doing all the safety checks of the tracks, the engines etc. I actually liked that because it shows the volunteers really care about the safety of the visitors. Spoke to a couple of them and they were very helpful. Definitely see how they can inspire new enthusiasts into model railways, engineers etc.
It was heartwarming to see that most people were putting larger contributions into the box than £1 per person. A place like this takes alot of work to stay open.
Coffee van in car park available for warm drinks after.
Well Done Guys. Keep up the good work!

Visited in July while staying at Tewitfield Marina. The volunteers do a great job and are very passionate about the miniature railway. We had a ride on the railway and had a picnic on the lovely grass, picnic area before we left. Everything was very safe and well organised to ensure our safety. COVID rules regarding social distancing and sanitisation were effectively carried out, with carriages being wiped down after every run. Well done!

On our holiday we found this attraction and thought that our two children would enjoy it, the little one loves trains and I knew he would be really excited.
We checked that it was on, and they had posted on their Facebook page saying that it was going to be on, so we didn't call, we just went.
We arrived to it closed, nobody to tell us, just other disappointed families having to try and warn the arriving families before they have unloaded their children.
We had already unloaded ours before finding out, and had to put some very upset children back in the car.
The following day they said they were on, and I asked if they were sure, not wanting another wasted holiday day, (after my son having heart surgery at the end of last year, and my husband having cancer at the beginning of this year, our time together is very precious) only to be publicly berated by the volunteers and regulars for thinking that firstly, maybe they should consider not posting to say that they are on, before they know that they are. And suggesting that they could possibly put up a sign, so that disappointed children can be managed.
I did consider deleting my post on the Facebook page just to stop the rude/nasty comments, but then thought that I'm not going to be bullied into deleting it.
I would not recommend this attraction, and I thoroughly recommend that they learn to respect peoples time, as you never know how long somebody has left!

Found this brilliant place on trip advisor. We stayed at Tewitfield marina and we decided to pack a picnic and set off for a walk along the canal to this place.
Great for the kids and had picnic on the grass. There’s a van that sells burgers and donuts and coffee.
Simple little place and the kids loved it. Definitely recommend this place for a visit.

A great day out. A large picnic area and a few benches available too. The ride is fabulous, two rounds and great fun for both kids and grown ups. Go there if the weather is good.

What a great place to spend a couple of hrs and excellent value for money, open Sunday's fun for all the family, even the tea van is excellent with real donuts made in front of you and at a great price on all it's menu. Definitely go again.
