Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An absolutely stunning spectacle though very difficult to do it justice in photographs. The gorge is so deep and so narrow it is breathtaking. Lovely walk through the woods to get there and a good choice of routes back to make a circuit with convenient parking in Evanton near cafe and shops. Do not miss this!

Met a friend here for a walk with our dogs as it was a great halfway point between our two homes. We had printed a map from the internet but it was a bit vague. We parked in the car park in the town centre and and walked to the entrance. Its a lovey woodland walk with good quality and well kept paths . As our ma was very vague could maybe do with some more signage to make sure you are on the right tracks, as there are lots of smaller tracks coming off the main walk,Took us about 1.5 hours to do the loop route on a lovely cold crisp winters day. Nice facilities at each end of the walk where people were enjoying picnics and BBQ's and a great play area . At the chapel end of the walk there is a great map, maybe would be good to have at each entrance and maybe printed copies available or more accessible online. Great walk and would recommend for a peaceful walk

This is a fairly straightforward walk of about 2.5miles and takes around 1.5 hours. The well maintained tracks and paths (which can get muddy at times) pass through beautiful woodlands. There are very helpful information boards at strategic places. It is about 2.5 miles and takes about 1.5 hours. The gorge itself is unexpectedly dramatic in that it is surprisingly narrow, is 120 feet deep and Allt Graad (the River Glass) runs through it. we started from the Evanton car park and followed a circular route which brought us out at the former chapel, now a private house. It's then a straight walk down the road to the car park. If you are in the area it is definitely worth taking the time to do this walk : it is relaxing and enjoyable. The gorge featured in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie. PS There is a also a lovley play park and picnic area.

If you’re in the area, this is definately worth stopping for. Very deep and narrow (and famously in one of the Harry Potter movies). Just park near the old mill and walk down - when path gets to the tree line, very left and it’s there. Gets quite muddy in parts if it had been raining.

Firstly there are numerous woodland walks that can be done from here which all look fantastic. The black rock gorge one is well signposted, and is a beautiful walk. The gorge is magical and fairylike.
There is also a lovely natural playpark and picnic area at the start point for the walks.

We have been spending some fun time seeking not only beautiful landscapes and historical buildings but we have been checking out sites filmed in movies or TV series. That's what brought us here. We drove up the road before the trailer park (coming from North). There are no signs to direct you to this areas until you are literally by the path. We enjoyed this little adventure.

Just a nice short stroll through woodland to find the gorge but it was surprisingly impressive to see the gash in the ground.
Recommend it if you are in the area and have a spare hour.

There are a number of different ways to approach the gorge, requiring a short walk through the Evanston Community Woods or from the road near the old mill. Nothing prepares you for the deep gash in the ground, although the sound of rushing water gives a clue. Be ready to feel dizzy as you try to catch a glimpse of the water far, far below! The information boards explain the history of the Gorge.
Leave enough time to explore the Community Woods too....lots of lovely quiet walks, with outdoor play area for children too.
